He failed in recruiting his younger brothers, and has been a disappointment (probably unavoidable wherever he went) himself. I won't be shedding too many tears for him.

But how is Bob Gregory a bad coach? His two best athletes --Eifler and Ngata--in the six years he's been here didn't develop enough to unseat Kyler Manu.

Ngata barely played ILB. He moved there once he was buried outside. There are many things to bash Gregory for. This ain’t one of them. Neither is Eifler. Being better than Manu isn’t hard to do.

Ariel Ngata. Receiver of the Charles Smith Memorial by way of Kyler Manu Scholarship. The scholarship given to the kid for being the other guy in that year’s ‘package deal.’

Exactly and Ngata found playing time there because the other options sucked. He played better than Manu and Wellington. A good coach inspires a talent like Ngata to stay and LIPO. If we're talking about one player, yeah fine, give Gregory a pass. We're not. He excels as a family man and sucks balls as a cfb coach

He played well in one game all year (Arizona, 8 tackles). In the other 12 games he played, he made a combined 3 tackles.

He wasn’t really in the plans and he probably wants to play. Bowman, Tryon, and Latu have outside locked up and are all better all around players.

Ulofoshio, Sirmon, maybe Tafisi, and the three freshman that redshirted (Calvert, Heimuli, and Ah You) are going to be the guys inside. Ngata was going to have a tough time beating those guys out so he left.

Eifler left at the time because 3 or 4 guys were ahead of him. When players are buried in the depth, they sometimes leave.

Hard making tackles from the sideline. The guys in front of him sucked balls. Ngata played well against Arizona and vanished. We? have some weird affinity for sticking with shitty players. thats the point
Not sure why you're making excuses for Ngata. He had his opportunities, but he just sucked as much as Manu and Wellington.

Through the first 8 games of the season, Ngata was in on 143 plays and made 11 tackles. Remove the Arizona game (8 tackles in 26 snaps), he had 3 tackles in 117 snaps.
