I'm a classical liberal, not a libertarian
The Libertarian Party is an unserious party, whose members have completed the process of deconstruction who seek nothing but mockery and chaos. With limited prospects, its members stand for nothing. They are fundamental losers. Those who donate money to the party are doing the equivalent of placing wagers on the Washington Generals to beat the Globetrotters.
If you are in the party, and have any remaining self-respect, LEAVE. Don't waste your time, don't waste your money, don't give them attention, move on. It's dead, it's time to start over. Growing liberty via a political party is not effective. Politics comes last. We must first build communities, small networks, and culture. Politics run downstream from culture.

Been railing on this from the other direction for months - 'liberalism' is not classic liberalism. The term has been co-opted by the "progressive left".
"Libertarians" have been coopted by the tinfoil extreme right.
Make Classic Liberalism Great Again - which is why there will be Trumps in the White House for the next 12 years or so.

For a long tim in the US it's been all about co-opting a party and winning in primaries. The Tea Party did it, the progressive left is doing it right now, and Trump did it to the GOP in 2016.

I describe myself as a conservative with strong libertarian leanings. Maybe I change that to classic liberal leanings. But today official libertarians are pretty nuts. Any political belief system should be consistent with actual human behavior and common sense. I supported gay marriage, pot legalization and legalized prostitution for decades. But I never supported open borders. Supposed libertarians like both the dead and living Koch brothers do. They pretend that in a perfect libertarian society there would be no welfare and thus no incentive to cross borders. We don't have a no welfare society and won't ever have one. Thus arguing for open borders just means an evaporation of a free enterprise, liberty and freedom society. Importing MS 13 gang member into the US is madness. Same with tariffs. I believe in free trade. I don't believe that means we can have free trade into the US, but we can't have free trade into the rest of the world. Or have our intellectual property protected.

Why I call myself a small “l” libertarian. The Party insists, at least nationally, to put nut jobs out front. I threw away (hi cd) my vote on Gary Johnson. His policies were good but that dude presented himself like someone who bashed his head in due to a hang glider crash. Which he did.
