Bob you do realize there were applications for a FISA warrant long before the dossier came into play? It was just another piece of straw on the mountain of straw on the camels back. On top of that the dossier came from a highly regarded FBI informant. Results from the investigation found no fault on President Trumps part. Stop crying already, it's over.

There were applications for a FISA warrant that were rejected. Only after they introduced the Dossier and lied to the court about it's origins and the credibility of it's source(s) were they able to secure the FISA warrant. No Dossier, no FISA warrant. The Dossier was the key and "essential" piece of evidence the Feds had to secure that warrant. It wasn't just "another piece." As the IG said, it was the "essential" piece in getting the warrant.

We found that the CHS operations received the necessary approvals under FBI policy; that an Assistant Director knew about and approved of each operation, even in circumstances where a first-level supervisory special agent could have approved the operations; and that the operations were permitted under Department and FBI policy because their use was not for the sole purpose of monitoring activities protected by the First Amendment or the lawful exercise of other rights secured by the Constitution or laws of the United States. We did not find any documentary or testimonial evidence that political bias or improper motivation influenced the FBI's decision to conduct these operations. Additionally, we found no evidence that the FBI attempted to place any CHSs within the Trump campaign, recruit members of the Trump campaign as CHSs, or task CHSs to report on the Trump campaign.
