I’m very surprised Utah is the best offense in the conference. Oregon and Utah 1-2 in rushing. Just another reminder games are won up front.
I defended our OL in the middle of the season and said they were pretty good. They weren’t terrible, but we do need great. -
In general, nobody in the conference really ran the ball that successfully outside of Utah and Oregon. I really struggle to differentiate how much of our running issues stem from our challenges in the passing game versus the OL not doing their job.
What surprised me was that we were upper half when it came to yards per completion ... which highlights the explosiveness that you have with Eason.
The bottom third of the conference in both yards per attempt and yards per play just speak to how inconsistent the offense was, particularly in the passing game.
What I didn't include here was that our run/pass play mix was at 52% run, 48% pass. Our ratio in years prior have been more in the high 50's to low 60% range for running plays. Without being on the inside, hard to tell how much that was not trusting the running game versus bad play calling by believing that the passing game would come around. My hypothesis was that the focus of the offensive deep dive in the offseason was around explosive plays and that meant a lot of vertical passes given that our existing WRs really couldn't create a ton of space and YACs. -

Lets focus on firing the coaches in charge of the TEs or RBs... as if those positions groups havent been consistently good. DAWG SENSE! -
Old DAWGS like us know that recruiting the O line is the biggest crap shoot so the least important. Developing the O line is where it is atHouhusky said:

Huff has failed so let's trust him with a brand new line next year -

In all fairness to Ludwig, Oregon and Utah were his early years. He went on OC-ing for another 10 years and actually became a decent, bonafide OC. Just what we? needed. -
I don’t care that much because I honestly think one of us could coach RB’s. It’s not really a nuanced position from a coaching standpoint. That said, I agree. Those guys have been fine. It’s weird to have an obsession with axing them based purely on sizzle reasons.Houhusky said:
