Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.

I want to know the story

There's more to it than just recharging.

Peterman could easily have done an Ed Orgeron and hired an OC who handled the offense as Jimmy ran the D.

Peterman could then have taken the Herm Edwards route and been a CEO and mentor of execution.

My gut tells me Lake was on the way out, and Jen told Peterman changes were required on the offense.

I think he's far better suited to be a big fish in a small pond.

    Has he ever liked coaching?

You act like being the CEO is a hands-off job with little work involved. That's not true of any organization, and especially not in football. Head coaching is fucking exhausting, especially at the college level where recruiting takes up the entire offseason and you're spending what would be your vacation trying to convince shitty teenagers to come join your team. There is no half-assed way to be a head coach, so kudos to Pete for recognizing that he didn't have the energy for it anymore and being willing to walk away.

    This

Now you throw in the racist diatribes that Cristobal etc and other coaches we’re doing the last couple of years and I can’t even imagine wanting to put up with it anymore.

Pete’s burned out and doesn’t want to coach UW anymore. I doubt it’s any more than that.

...at UW anymore because he couldn't be an elite coach here and the university deserves much more than he was delivering?

Yep. Too big of a job at this stage of his career given my assumption that he has saved his money and doesn't need to work. He doesn't like recruiting or elbow rubbing and he hates dealing with the media.

No surprise but I'm still fucking surprised somehow.
