I thought it was because Winslow wanted to go to Miami

I remember all the noise at the time because the other thing Rick did was make us a recruiting school for a while just as the internet was taking off. Perfect storm. Followed the Reggie Williams recruitment like he was my son

The old guard always hated Rick because they loved Lambo and Rick didn't BLEED purple. But the team did appear to get worse the better they recruited.

    Deja VU?

Last coach to win a rose bowl and pop off. Tui gets the 4th down vs Oregon. Simple fact.
Except when he didn't and lost 23-16

And lost in 97 too. 28-31
Was it at home in 2000? That’s what I thought. Tui gets the 4th down. Big Dick Option Runner.
I was at Autzen that day. Tui played like shit

But as was the case in 2000 he came back late, had the ball with a chance to get to OT, and failed. The other 10 games he didn't fail
I watched the game in a sports bar in Colorado springs and ended up watching with an Oregon fan. We were both happy the teams played well and no was hurt.

We got down by to Oregon by too much in 2000. It was 23-3 at some point in the 2nd half. We came back to make it a one score game, but it was never really in any doubt.

The week before we squeaked our a win at Colorado. Wilbur Hooks has a big TD catch to put us ahead.

Yeah but 2000 was a pale imitation of 1991

    I did love 2000 and 2016 though

Imagine being a top tier program and having more than 3 years out of 30 that were fun.
    There's a reason this is a thing:

Don't get me wrong, Washton fans have been among the most miserable and pathetic fanbases for the entirety of my miserable and pathetic life.

I can't even imagine the schadenfreude-supernova that Alabama's inevitable collapse will bring about.

The other issue was Oregon kept pinning us? within the 10 yard line and we? kept kicking it back to them at the 50. They won the field position game all day long.

Bear Bryant won his last title in 1979 and retired in 1982 I think

Gene Stallings beat the CANES and won the natty in 1992

It was a long dry spell until Saban showed up with your Mike Shulas and Mike Dubose types losing games bigly. And not beating Auburn
