Someone other than the people controls their government. A corrupt government. We aren't that different given the current circumstances.ThomasFremont said:
I’m wondering how you thought that was relevant to the Mexican cartel shooting story?Sledog said:
The people or the deep state career politicians.ThomasFremont said:
Ok, didn’t think so, but then what is the connection you are drawing here?Sledog said:
No I'm not insinuating they run America.ThomasFremont said:Are you insinuating that Mexican drug cartels run America?
Genuinely curious to know what dots you are connecting here.

Why should people acting in a collective not have the same rights as when acting as individuals?PurpleThrobber said:The corporations and special interest groups run America. Why even ask the question?
The Throbber could clean this shit up in a moment. Meaningful campaign finance reform - you don't vote, you don't get to contribute to ANY campaign. No union contributions, no PAC, none of that bullshit. Individuals can contribute to a designated threshold that goes up or down by the CPI. Period. That's it.
That's Phase 1. -
You are a fan of corruption, eh? kudosMikeDamone said:

I’d eliminate ALL political contributions if necessary to get rid of the corruption and special interests. -
Damone is a big fan of Citizens United.

Correct. And answer the question. Why would you suggest people lose rights they have as individuals when then act corporately? They are still individuals, are they not?ThomasFremont said:Damone is a big fan of Citizens United.

I’m not a fan of corruption. You’re better than at PT, you don’t need to drop a logical fallacy. That’s for the HondoBros.PurpleThrobber said:

Getting rid of contributions is a 1A issue. Corruption is a separate issue. -

This is really the same logic that would get rid off all guns to get rid of gun deaths. Take away law abiding citizens rights, because others are abusing the right. -
Term limits solves the big problem.
