I'm going to give Lebron a very 'slight' window of not communicating very well.
What he may have been referencing when he said Morey should have waited a week, is that there were a shitload of NBA players and officials in China at the time. As we've seen in the past, China isn't hesitant to toss foreigners in prison. I suppose it's 'possible' that outspoken NBA players could have been jailed being put in the position of commenting on Morey's tweet.
That's about as 'possible' as I'm willing to entertain. Mostly, Lebron is a greedy fuck who likes to run his mouth about shit that sort of kind of makes him looks woke and smart and shit.
Pretty much like any wealthy elitist progressive.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver should fear “retribution” for allegedly lying when he said Chinese officials asked him to fire a Houston Rockets executive over a pro-Hong Kong tweet, state media in China warned Saturday.
The state-run China Central Television broadcast the threat, saying “it is ugly for the president of an internationally influential sports league to openly make up a lie to discredit China,” according to The New York Times. The broadcast added Silver’s alleged lie showed he had character issues.
CCTV’s broadcast also blasted Silver's moral compass, saying “once someone’s morality goes wrong, he will receive retribution sooner or later” and that “freedom of speech does not mean that it can be arbitrary nonsense.”
CCTV’s response came days after Silver said at a Time Magazine event that the Chinese government urged him to fire Daryl Morey for his tweet supporting pro-democracy Hong Kong demonstrators. Silver said he refused the request. -
