Such an improvement (Mike Vorel's beautiful article)

Doesn't Vorel know its hard? You just can't pass the ball to your best players with your best quarterback. It isn't that simple. There are intracacies and details that need to get nailed down.
-
That article was beautiful.
-
Perfect article.
Hi Mike! -
Even fucking Rod said it last night. You can over scheme and forget its as easy as avoiding the best players on their team and getting it the best players on your team.

Pete is gonna watch the tape.
It’s been written before, but it suddenly bears repeating: entering the game, Stanford’s defense ranked 127th nationally in opponent completion percentage (70.6%), 126th in opponent pass efficiency rating (170.60), 124th in opponent yards per attempt (9.4), 115th in passing defense (287.4 yards per game) and 111th in touchdown passes allowed (11). -
I’m just happy we have an elite Qb with a big dick arm
-
Pretty sure he's already here.
Glad someone is writing tough but fair articles and hope it continues.
Lots of crap about firing Hamdan in comment section. And if that's truly the problem, that's fine. But I'd like to see Pete quizzed about whose offense it really is, and how much control he exercises over it. I think we all know the answer, but I want to see him admit it, without bullshit or doublespeak or "we'll check the tape" non-answers. Fat chance that'll ever happen though.
Small issue with the title of the other article: "Stanford stuns No. 15 Washington in merciless, methodical thrashing" - I don't feel stunned whatsoever, and isn't that the most damning evidence of all? - That fans are getting used to this shit? And if he's referring to the TEAM being stunned, then still that isn't any better.

Best Husky football article written in like, 20 years.
-
Amazing article.
Losers lose -

Fuller will probably end up in the NFL making plays after being the most hated husky on the team.
-
None of this shit is his fault. He does the best he can and would be a solid 2nd receiver or a phenomenal 3rd. He needs to not drop as many passes though.phineas said:Fuller will probably end up in the NFL making plays after being the most hated husky on the team.
It's our fucking coaches that is the problem -
And how about Pete name one fucking thing they truly did to simplify things. Or since I'm already talking about things that'll never happen, an in-depth breakdown of what the problem was and how they addressed it. You know, the thing they identified as an issue last year? Or was that lip service too? (Rhetorical; we all know that last answer,)

my goodness that is a wonderfully written piece...how long has it been since we've had someone courageous and insightful...and interested in UW (fuck Jood and his Duck angle) enough to put thoughts like that together.
Vorel captured my thoughts nicely with "utterly incompetent" and "utterly ineffective".
Last night's game is a huge indictment on Petersen's system since we are at this point in year 6 where nobody else is capable of playing according to the coach. -
He'll catch the winning pass from Tom Brady in next year's Super Bowlphineas said:Fuller will probably end up in the NFL making plays after being the most hated husky on the team.

How the fuck are the coaches to blame for drops that go right through his hands, off his chest?PostGameOrangeSlices said:

Didn’t Pete say they have to cut their losses? I thought he was referring to Opera

SHOTS FIRED!

Petersen often has repeated that those who practice most consistently will earn opportunities in games.
Right there.... He doesn't believe in fucking gamers. Guys that show up for the lights. We are fucked. -
If the huskies loose their next night game and win their day games, then you will know it is connected to their quarterback & receiver corps with the night lights.
-
They won’t play anyone else. Literally anyone. Puka? Too young. Doesn’t know the plays. Osborne and Spiker? Too young, don’t know the plays. Hell, event Chin? Nah, only on trick plays.Emoterman said:

The converse is also true - some people crack under pressure.Postal91 said:Petersen often has repeated that those who practice most consistently will earn opportunities in games.

I think pgos is saying that (1) coaches aren't managing the game well and with poor playcalling (2) guys like fuller who cannot separate or manufacture their own luck and rely on a well thrown ball (3) and when they drop the ball it is their own fault.Emoterman said:

but fuller playing in a balanced system will get better opportunities which would probably lead to less drops as the chances a defender will be in his face or draped all over him will be less. -
There are no standards. After a couple drops, you should get pulled. After a couple games of bad production, pull them. It’s a results driven game.
I know the players behind them suck. If they were any good, they would get in at least a little bit. It’s just depressing. -

Misread the PGOS post. Apologies for being FS. -
Vorel is the first Seattle Sports Journalist with a dick and some balls since Y2K. I love that guy.
