So true story. In grade school in Omak we watched the made for TV movie of Chief Joseph and the Nez Pierce fighting the army and fleeing towards Canada.
The teachers had to stop the movie because all the Indian kids were cheering when the soldiers got shot. Apparently didn’t dawn on them that maybe these kids had a different point of view about seeing their literal great grandparents slaughtered. Some kid with the last name of Joseph even got suspended for telling a teacher Chief Joseph faked his death and moved to Canada. Pretty sure he had inside knowledge.
Even the white boys like me knew shit was fucked up. -
