Peyton pulling away from Horn

Does Peyton get the job done this year?

I don't know but hopefully whatever team we lose to we have them dead to rights with time expiring and then lose in OT so their fans can say they "owned" us on Twitter!!!
-
You mean the kid who made less than half his kicks in high school might not be especially accurate?
Chris Sailer is a @NEsnake12 oil salesman. -
I cant wait to punt or go for it every time we're between the opposing team's 25 and 40 yard line
-
The only thing I was hoping from Horn this year are touchbacks on kickoffs. Anything more is gravy.

Good thing we’re going to take a scholarship punter and long snapper this class to add to our special teams prowess.
-
Statistically, it's supposed to be better to go for every single 4th down.
If Pete were to go for it on 4th every time on the opponents 45-20, I'd actually be okay with it -
At least it won’t be Browning going for it this year
-
Agreed, but it's different if it's by choice. Not having a reliable kicking game will almost always buttfuck you at some point in the season. It's also something that's plagued Pete forever.PostGameOrangeSlices said:Statistically, it's supposed to be better to go for every single 4th down.

More often than most coaches go for it? Yes, especially early in the game or when the field goal doesn’t cross a key number.
But it will kill us when we need a FG to win or tie at the end.
-
Every time is hyperbole, but studies have shown your odds of winning increase by going for it at every opportunity. Too risky for any coach though, even Leach.FremontTroll said:

Still doesnt negate the fact a reliable kicking game is a season saver in close games. -
This is what ten years of data recommends vs what happens in the NFL.
Kicking the FG is usually the best move.
-
my hope is that the loss (LOL) of Browning means we won't be making so many field goal attempts
-
Don James always used walk-ons to man the kicker and punter positions.
The only two scholarship specialists that I can recall that weren't total pieces of shit were John Anderson and Sean McDonald. -
No studies show that. Maybe you are thinking of the high school coach in Arkansas that never punts or kicks field goals but 1. that is high school where they can't kick anyway and 2. he has vastly superior talentPostGameOrangeSlices said:

Husky skeeet posted the chart- most coaches punt far too often but aren't that far off on when they take the points.
Obviously that chart is based on pure expected points and doesn't take into account the game situation. -

Edit: That’s an ass. -
Sean Douglas was really fucking good. Unfortunately he had WAC or lesser talent running downfield to cover his monster punts. Doogs blamed him for the punt coverage woes.Penace said:Don James always used walk-ons to man the kicker and punter positions.

There have been a couple of decent field goal kickers since Anderson, but none that compared to him. His performance in that AC in Pullman, nailing clutch 47-48 yarders in tough conditions, should be legendary but tends to get forgotten. -
If we are kicking field goals burn the fucking program down
-
I'm still pissed Peyton isn't Messican so we can't deport him.

Couple things
Petersen punting from the Oregon 40 his first year in a game AT Husky Stadium set the program back years. We still haven't got our balls back. It was a horrible call. Gutless.
If a coach calls a time out on 4th down to decide if he wants to go for it or kick and then goes for it I know he is a HORRIBLE coach. Be fucking prepared before the game and don't give the defense a chance to get ready
If you go with a metric based no kick approach you have to live it every day and every game. The NY Giant coach was a moron for just trying it out of the blue
Like Sark "incorporating elements" of Chip Kelly's offense

People forget how unacceptable most of those losses were.RaceBannon said:Couple things

All these hot take narratives on the kicking battle are based on a sample of what, like eight "live" kicks spread across five practices?

John Anderson is one of the best kickers this school has ever had
-
First of all, mother fuck peyton Henry. Good god I just saw where Carli fucking Loyd hit a 55 yarder without the tee. Never again waste a scholly on a specialist. Fuck Horn, van soderberg, vizcaino, that gig harbor faggot and every other shit stain we have signed in the last 10 years.
Walk ons are fine (unless it is payton henry)
