Hard Knocks w/ Mike Leach

A documentary series modeled after HBO's popular 'Hard Knocks' program is coming to college football.

According to various reports, Arizona State, Alabama, Washington State and Penn State have entered discussions to allow cameras and filmmakers on campus this season to shoot footage for an upcoming yet-to-be-revealed production on the popular cable channel.

Penn State released the following statement on Tuesday alluding to its potential involvement in the show: "As we do with all opportunities we feel can enhance our program, we are exploring the prospect of working on this project with the appropriate officials from all parties involved."
Sources tell 247Sports that Alabama hasn't fully agreed to being a part of it yet.

Currently in its 14th season, 'Hard Knocks' is currently following the Oakland Raiders as head coach Jon Gruden tries to build the Silver and Black into a contender. Narrated by Liev Schreiber since 2001, 'Hard Knocks' takes viewers behind the scenes and inside the locker room in the NFL, an unfiltered peek at what goes prior to gameday.

The four reported college programs included in this latest HBO production are all excellent choices with plentiful storylines heading into the 2019 season. The idea of having Washington State coach Mike Leach mic'd up during a game week is quality TV, along with a potential glance at the inner-workings of Nick Saban's championship-caliber program at Alabama.
It's no surprise Herm Edwards and the Sun Devils are allowing a film crew to follow every move for a week this fall. Edwards is used to camera work at ESPN and served as an analyst for several years post NFL-coaching career before taking the job at Arizona State.
At Penn State, the Nittany Lions enter a pivotal campaign as a Top 25 program that is somewhat being viewed as an underdog nationally, rarely mentioned with Ohio State and Michigan as a contender in the Big Ten this season.

Multi-year starter quarterback Trace McSorley is gone, paving the way for Sean Clifford to take over the reins offensively.
