Incredible job by Junior Adams. Rome had offers from everywhere, and only visited us once in April when we had no other visitors. He then took a bunch of visits and committed to us without even taking his official yet. This is a Faatui Tuitele type recruiting win.

"They haven't won a national championship yet, so they've got some space for players to get up there and make a big difference. I love coach (Junior) Adams, who was recruiting me early and it meant a lot that they have been in contact with me throughout. It's just a great fit for me."

"Some people might look at a group of great receivers and see less opportunity, but I know that with those guys there we'll all be able to share the ball and get better. Recruiting: Odunze committed moments ago in what essentially came down to a two-horse race between Washington and Oklahoma. He unofficially visited the Sooners in late July after last visiting UW back in April. We had heard the Huskies were in a good spot going in to his visit with Oklahoma and although we know he enjoyed his time in Norman, Washington was able to seal the deal. He had a strong relationship with WR coach Junior Adams as well as head coach Chris Petersen. He cited the Huskies combination of football, academics and their ability to develop players on and off the field as all big reasons for his commitment.
What to Like: Odunze is a player that just oozes upside. He has a college body right now, has game breaking speed and tremendous on field production. He’s a big, physical outside receiver who can stretch the field and make the tough catch in traffic. As a junior, he had over 1,300 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns and looks bigger, stronger and faster this season. We saw him multiple times this off-season and he always impressed. He clocked a 10.67-100m this past track season and that speed translates well to the football field. He has strong hands, competes at a high level and is a high character kid that really fits in the Husky program well. In terms of his upside and long term potential, you won’t find many receivers anywhere in the country with his size and skill set.
Areas to improve: Odunze has all the physical tools you could want in a college level receiver. Like all high school receivers, the biggest jump will just be getting down the technical things- route running, picking up the speed of the game, learning how to use his body to create separation, etc. He has plenty of time to develop, although we do think he has the talent to play as a true freshman. Washington does have some talented young receivers on the roster right now so Odunze won’t need to be rushed in to action until he’s ready but his long term potential once he rounds out the other parts of his game is scary.
Overall Analysis: The Huskies are putting together a heck of a wide receiver room right now. When you add Odunze to Jalen McMillan, that’s a heck of a one-two punch and they complement each other very well. Both can get deep and are legitimate burners on the track as well. Add in Sawyer Racanelli, a big 6-3 sure handed two-way athlete who was on the verge of landing a 4th-star before a season ending knee injury and the Huskies are definitely in a good position. Odunze has all the physical tools to step in and compete for playing time right away and it will be fun to see if he takes his game to another level this coming season. He’s playing with a lot of confidence right now and although he’ll have a huge target on his back as the focal point of the Gaels passing game, we still think he’ll put up some big numbers playing alongside Penn State QB commit Micah Bowens for the second year in a row. -

McMillian easily looks the most polished when watching his tape. He can do it all and do it all very well. Rome's junior tape is pretty impressive. He's also 6'2.5", 200 and runs a 4.55 with a 4.00 agility (which was the best at his Opening event) so I like the combination of a do it all player and one that has the potential. I'm fine with potentially waiting on Rome to develop (especially when paired with McMillan) when we have some promising young WR's already on the roster.
