I think most people who aren't complete fucking imbeciles would say that Trump's comment was at least ill-advised, if not outright stupid. It's the very kind of comment that would alienate a centrist supporter because it at least smacks of xenophobia.
Otherwise, it's just another ringing of the bell of nationalism. While nationalism can often include race-based components, they are not mutually inclusive.
If they'd been white men from Germany and he said "go back to where you came from" we wouldn't be talking about this. Would he say that to a bunch of white German dudes? Probably not.
There's little doubt in my mind that Trump harbors some racial shit in his mind due to his age alone. If we're being honest, it's very, very common, including among minority groups. But that suspicion doesn't magically transform what he said into racism. -
Unlike you and the Jihad Squad, I can be critical of Trump.HHusky said:

Agree, Omar's the worst of the bunch.RaceBannon said:Trump would tell Bernie to go back to the Soviet Union rather easily
The Squad loves to use their labels on themselves. First PLO congresswoman, first terrorist congresswoman, first Brooklyn congresswoman etc and etc
He should have singled out Omar and let her have it. This country brought her in, gave her a new life and elected her to Congress and she does nothing but trash it and the Jews that run it. Little humor there
She's a terrorist sympathizer and she can cry all she wants about racism and that isn't going to change -
I generally agree with that.SFGbob said:
Trump could have said it in a more articulate manner but he is an inarticulate boob. Still doesn't mean that what he said was racist and calling out the Jihad Squad was something that needed to be done. I'm just happy the entire party is now embracing them. If the White German dudes were pushing Marxism and anti-Semitism I can easily see Trump making the same statements.creepycoug said:The thing about this thread is that it's been made more black and white than it need be.

Well at this point I think a lot more people know the Squad and what they stand for and now see the Pelosi wing embracing them and the media loving them, all of which........wait for it......
Helps Trump IMO -
A little gratitude toward the country that rescued you and your brother marrying ass and your entire family would be appreciated and if you can't do that shut the fuck up.dnc said:

It was Nationalist AF. And that’s what his supporters want. I’m not a love-it, or leave-it person, but I think it’s fair rhetoric for a snotty ungrateful little cunt like Omar who constantly bashes the country that saved her ass from certain miserable death. That’s who Trump was aimed at, primarily, because she’s been the worst offender. Tlaib has referred to Palestine as “where her family is from” and Palestinians “my people” hundreds of times, so the confusion on that is excusable. I don’t think Trump gives two shits about AOC, and her mistakes and lies make her fair game, too.creepycoug said:The thing about this thread is that it's been made more black and white than it need be.

Lots of centrists agreed with the Shithole countries comments too, as harsh as they may seem. Everything bad that happens in the third world countries is not the fault of the US. The corruption, nepotism, drugs, violence, poverty and pollution in many of those war-torn places make them shitholes, with or without anything the US does. So if they continue to play that card, they’re doomed to failure.

I honestly don't disagree.SFGbob said:

I don't disagree. Like others, I think he could have been more clever and used a different phrase with less historical loading. His most ardent fans would have been just as pleased if he'd just told them they're stupid and to fuck off.TurdBomber said:

Rashida Tlaib is always talking about Palestine. Telling her to go back is valid.
Omar is a moslem transplant. Telling her to go back to her own country is valid.
AOC is a socialist pig. Telling her to go to Venezuela or to Pol Pot's Cambodia is perfectly valid.
