There has been an increase in hate crimes it's that the increase has mostly come from groups that don't fit the left's preferred narrative. Blacks attacking Jews and Hispanics and blacks attaching each other.
They want to blame it all on Trump but the number of those incidents are so small they have resorted to making them up. -

For anyone interested, the article quotes an author who is an expert on the subject. He wrote a book called "Hate Crime Hoax: How the left is selling a fake race war". The book with its thesis is a great read and the data backup is irrefutable. The left divides the country by race for power.
