according to Wikipedia every single scout outside of Eugene missed on this can't miss prospect.
"Northern Arizona, Portland State and Montana State all extended offers before Nevada and Oregon followed up with his only FBS offers.[5] Herbert committed to his hometown Ducks on October 9, 2015.[6]" -
Wow...
Actually, Herbert is Oregon's best quarterback since Vernon Adams. Which isn't saying much. -

Debatable whether he's the best QB in the Pac. It's not saying much even if that's true.Meek said:according to Wikipedia every single scout outside of Eugene missed on this can't miss prospect.

But as to whether "scouts" whiffed on him, that's pretty clear. They did. The kid has all the tools you'd want. Size, arm, mobility. Yeah, he didn't do much last year, other than beat the conference champs. But he was pretty inconsistent too. No doubt about that. But one could also argue he's performed pretty well given the coaching circumstances he's dealt with.
So, college scouts did miss him. Which is hardly surprising. The guys who get paid to do it in the NFL fuck it up at least as often as not. -

Scouts whiffed because he broke his freaking femur three games into his junior year. Quarterback recruiting usually wraps up earlier than with other positions, and he had zero buzz or momentum during the most critical time for attracting offers. I remember all the talk at the time of the risk vs. reward calculation, as nobody knew how he'd be once his leg had healed.creepycoug said:
