I seriously underestimated the faggyness of you all. No mention of Hairspray...because Walken and Travolta in drag. Weak.

I see a lot of posters here don't understand what a musical is.
I second La La Land. -
this is a weird fucking thread...when you say musical, I'm thinking live theater and some of you guys are like "Oh, there was a song in a movie, so that must be a musical." Not sure how the fuck that happened.
Anyway, I hate musicals, but somehow I've been forced to attend a handful. Here's what I've seen and what my rating is:
London
- Chicago. Yep...I'm that guy who flew to London with my wife and she wanted to go to a musical but the only one with tickets was Chicago. Flew to London to watch Chicago...how does that make any sense? Chicago the musical sucks.
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Took my 7 year old to this one...it was good and less creepy than the movie.
- Harry Potter & The Cursed Child. This motherfucker is 2 parts where each one is 2.5 hours. It's a fucking marathon. My 7 year old loved it, but I would have napped if it wasn't so fucking loud.
New York
- Rent. Literally the worst thing I've ever seen or heard. The plot had no appeal and the musical lived up to my expectations - an abortion. The only explanation for this being award winning is people in New York hate money.
- Lion King. This is the fucking bomb! My kid was 6 at the time and he loved it. I loved it. My wife loved it.
San Francisco
- Hamilton. I guess it was the tier 2 cast but still pretty fucking cool show. We're going to see it for a second time in a couple weeks.
Vancouver, BC
- Phantom of the Opera. Meh...I woulda liked more monster in the tunnels under the city than love story. I guess it was okay, but couldn't sit through it twice.
What I'm waiting for is Grown Ups to be made into a musical. -
but what did you think of Cotton Candy?RaceBannon said:Back in the day the Buddy Holley Story was a great biopic
Has held up about as well as Gary Bussey -
It's South Park or Team America and nothing else is close.

I generally don't like musicals, but I like this one for that reason, and that reason only.BennyBeaver said:Grease

The most enduring woman crush I had all throughout childhood was ONJ. -
Took our kids to Les Mis a few years back during Christmas Break. Quality family time. Told the boys it was flick about the French Revolution - lots of sword fighting, cannons and shit.
As soon as Hugh Jackman busts into song in the opening scene, the younger one audibly yells "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!? YOU LIED TO ME!!!"
Not sure what was more entertaining, the movie or watching him shaking and ready to vomit for the remainder of the show.
