I'm old enough to remember when Betsy Ross was a historical feminine icon. Now she's a slavery abetting, patriarchy-conforming seamstress who deserves to have her work boycotted. A big TYFYS to Kap for pioneering wokeness by shaming real life pioneers.

I wonder how long the slaves would have remained slaves under English rule?

No one thinks about the alternative.

    You’re joking right @Sledog ?

Slavery would have ended 37 years earlier by Act of Parliament. Unless somehow Big Cotton was able to persuade London of its economic necessity.

But only is the Britain could have compensated slave owners for seizing their human assets, as Great Britain did with their people. That might have exceeded all of the British treasurery.

I laffed, but anything you say in the Tug can and will be used against you in a future thread, unless you can get a nullifier.

Hey, I can’t be responsible for what I post. I can barely get internet wheee I am and have been working 80 hours weeks.

And was I was referring to GW, not me. He fucked up on the whiskey rebellion. But I can over look it based on his track record.

Setting aside moral judgement, it would have been the best course of action at the time to compensate slave holders for emancipation. Might have even cost less than what the North spent on the Civil War. But those dumb fuck Southern hot heads chose to fight.
