Players that didn't match the hype?

I thought Mateaki was going to be a beast on the DL and Tipoti would be a starter from day 1.

Forgot to mention that I'm talking about guys that you actually followed their recruitment. I know Mike Lustik would be a big one

Foster Sarrell.

Is it August yet?
Let me see if I remember this thread off top:
Some lineman in Emtman's class named Lutsyk
"If Jason Shelly coulda stayed out of trouble"
Mateaki the freak
Jon five star Lyon
Paul Arnold "before the bad back you should have seen him"
Nathan Rhodes 5-star charity medical retirement recruiting bump trade-off
Casey Paus
Grady Sizemore/Matt Tui baseball dreams
The first "I peaked in 8th grade" potato -
Casey Paus is a good one
-
Keauntea Bankhead’s academic situation also crushed my dreams.
-
I HATED Cyler Miles his last year
-
Sorry wrong board but I have to say Abdul Gaddy cus it still pisses me off when I think about it
-
PGOS
-
Also Not a Dry Eye in the House Cooper.
-
Yeah from Army All-american MVP and throwing bombs to string in the Mac n cheese bowl when KP went down, I thought no way would he bust.BeerThirty said:I HATED Cyler Miles his last year

Yawn...overdone thread? Try "who is your favorite husky ever"? No, that thread has been bloodied and bruised. Ok, "which husky exceeded expectations"? That one has only been threaded 500 timez over the last 30 years. Be original, it helps propgate new discussion the forumBeerThirty said:What player for UW never matched the recruiting hype? For me it would be Donny Mateaki and Francisco Tipoti.

Btw Mateaki was all muscle, no tecnique...but played ok as an upperclassman -
I don't remember that but I've blocked out a lot of the KG/TW era.puppylove_sugarsteel said:

Mike Lustyk.

Nick “Big Sky” Montana

Lustyk was a typical crown-crest eadtside player then. . Dominated vs subpar competition. Izbicki is a more recent example. From my alma mater

String?

Brandon Beaver

Sims ended up at Louisville.
but this thread reminds me I watched the 2009 USC/UW game again and the freshman receiver Jon Johnson was looking good - did he die? what the hell happened?
Obvious answer - he was forced to transfer as he showed promise as a WR -
Jake Browning.

Kavario Middleton would have easily matched the hype if he showed up to the weight room even once in his career. And if he wasn't a prolific campus weed dealer. You can take the kid out of Lakewood, but you can't take Lakewood out of the kid.
