I can see that, but would probably go with Utah. UCLA's improvement at the end of the year last year was pretty significant. I expect a 7-6ish type of year with some blowouts of good teams and some bad losses. Year 3 they win the south and break through.

Utah probably the contender for the South. The fighting Herm's could sneak in. UCLA going to take another couple of years to build if he can ever do it.
UCLA went into Cal, where Jake Browning and Bush Hamdan redefined incompetence, and put 37 up against that D. They also week 12 took Stanford down to the wire and should have beat them. If they played Stanford week 3, they lose by 28.

they clearly improved as a team from week 1 to week 12, to a degree more than most. that was the extent of my point

ASU and USC will be the contenders and ASU will come out of the South, because their coaching staff is better.
