If she got her way, there would never be a decent bartender or server again. When bars/restaurants are forced to abide by an artificial minimum wage, tips are all but eliminated. In December I was in SFO (ILTCIT) before the pac 12 game. The restaurant bill had a surcharge at the bottom that said something like “city mandates”. It was 9% I think. I asked what it was and was told it was for vacation, healthcare and stuff like that. I am a 20% tipper and went ahead and counted that as part of my tip. I also realized they calculated the mandates tax on the total bill including other taxes. Fuck them. I backed out all taxes and tipped 11% on the base. I’m a bad ass.
