    We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

    Applies to our press today

“If you don't read the newspaper, you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed.” Mark Twain.

Applies to the Rats today just as it applied to the Rats back in Lincoln's day -

The world has never had a good definition of the word liberty, and the American people, just now, are much in want of one. We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men’s labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatable things, called by the same name—liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatable names—liberty and tyranny.

Nothing has really changed but the methods in which the Rats use to steal the labor of others.

Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force:

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months.

The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you.

In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped, and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944. Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations* have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned. The free men of the world are marching together to victory.

I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty, and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory.

Good Luck! And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.

    * Coined and proper noun for a specific group of countries allied in a state sponsored, military venture in WWII; not a reference to the formal organization formed in 1945.

But he called it a "Crusade" and he invoked God. You'd hate it if any conservative did that today.
I recall the last "liberal" US President invoking God in speeches. He probably stayed away from "crusade" though. Probably had no reason to use it like DDE did.

This speech gives me chills, regardless of DDE's party preference.

Who Obama? Yeah because you knew he was an atheist who didn't really believe it. Kind of like how no liberals cared when he said he was opposed to gay marriage. If Bush had called the Iraq war a "crusade" and invoked God your reaction, along with ever other liberal would have been apoplectic.

Yeah, that's about the response I expected because there is no fucking way you can honestly refute it.

“Trade wars are easy to win”
    “I don’t do cover ups.”
“We fell in love over beautiful letters.”
“If not for the negative press, covfefe.”
“I did try to fuck her. She was married.”
“I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her furniture shopping.”
“I moved on her like a bitch. But I couldn’t get there.”
“I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do that. You can do that.”
“Grab’em by the pussy. You can do anything.”

This thread is destined for the “classics.” Really, the content is infinitesimal.
