Burfict was kind of the opposite of ASJ thought - the fucker could always play and had a motor that he had a hard time stopping. ASJ has a hard time starting his

NFL owners love guys like Burfict despite what the commissioners office says.
You mean the guy with first round talent who went undrafted?

He also had off the field problems, and issues with the coaching staff. It's like an employee going into a job interview and ripping your former boss. It doesn't work very well. I was strictly talking about his on the field play.

I agree that they are different cases, and I thought Burfict was a beast too but that he didn't really care which led to a bad (given his talent) final season at ASU, in addition to the agressiveness problems. Wasn't he even benched by the end of the season? He went from 1st round projection to undrafted, it was a collapse.

You need to be mentally tough to make it in the NFL. I see ASJ, like Burfict, as a guy who is so talented that he's always been able to rely on his natural advantage over others. Of course I don't know the reality, he might be the hardest working player in practice, but it just doesn't seem like it from my point of view.
Anyway I hope for him that being in a pro organization he will get his ass kicked by a coach who believes in him, and that something clicks in his head.

You don't have to be as mentaly tough to play defense. Offensive players need to be able to read defenses and zones packages. While especially at linebacker, Burfict may only have to read 1-2 guys. More or less, Burfict just needs to see an open hole and fill it.................that's what she said.

I remember the fucking idiots on doogman that repeatedly said that ASJ was a top 10 pick. He's not going to be anything special in the NFL.

I don't know. ASJ was not well conditioned and appeared lazy at times running routes in Sark's passing offense, but I noticed that his run blocking significantly improved during this past season and he had a good bowl game blocking for Sankey. With the money he'll get as a first or second round draft pick and if he's smart enough to sign with a good agent, it wouldn't be surprise if he hires enough personal training to get ready in the off-season for the riggers and challenges of the NFL. ASJ's potential although unrealized at UW is huge and a good agent isn't going to let him waste it without a fight.

ASJ's a fat momma's boy. He could end up in a good situation and be coached up. But he's always seemed slow and pretty pedestrian (see what I did there?) in the receiving department to me -- just was bigger than everyone else. I wouldn't be surprised if he washes out in a couple years or becomes a decent NFL player.

Either way it will be interesting.
