Go back another ten and you get 60:40: Harden, Love, Roy, Diogu, Childress and Ridnour (hardly a lock), but also Randle (shoulda been QPon), Afflalo, Lampley and House. So that gets you to 9 of 20 with at least one of the 9 being far from a lock.
It’s not real unusual for the POY to not be a lottery pick. -
You have to get back before one and done was common to find a time when POYs were regularly expected lottery picks.
