Can't be blamed for Metal having a deeper field than other genres.

I think Metal NIT was a mor evenly matched field. You have to remember that the three biggest metal bands of all tim were already covered in the Rock tournament. I’ve enjoyed these BOTBs immensely, but I’m not surprised most of them went straight chalk. (Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing BTW, many of the polls came down to the wire, and had interesting debates in the game threads.)
It might be fun for a change of pace to do something like a music video or movie soundtrack tourney. Those might lend themselves to a few more upsets. -

AC DC not metal. I'm not sure that Sabbath would have beat Motorhead or even the other final four. They are largely recognized as the progenitors of metal but few people I know would consider them "the best" of the genre. Metallica would have definitely swept the tournament but also only because of main stream recognition and appeal to this group of voters. In a truly metal head tournament the likelihood of a Maiden or Motorhead upset is still really high. Plenty of people really don't like post-black album Metallica.YellowSnow said:
