I'm not sure why you would object to him here. Our 2020 QB is likely to be depth anyway with talent ahead and a franchise QB behind him. I'd take him just to stay in play with his Del Mar team mates.dirtysouwfdawg said:

I don’t like settling for “depth”. Why would we not continue pursuit for a top notch guy? If we are already out of it for the top notch qb’s then we have a bigger issue.

I don't want to settle for depth either but QB is different than the other positions. Pretty much the only spot on the team where only one guy plays so stacking talent there is a bit of a problem. If they think he is a worthwhile addition to the program, then sure, no problem.
MY issue with this is that I don't think Garbers is really good enough to merit that. It's far too early in the cycle to be settling. We should get Redman anyway, and so if we are taking this early commitment to land Redman as well, that's really shitty recruiting. -
This was a bad QB year, but there were at least 4 guys I liked ahead of Garbers that were interested in us that we decided to pass on. If you have such loaded QB depth why not take a chance on someone like JD Johnson that has a higher ceiling?
I still trust Bush as a recruiter but this is a weird choice. -

Completely depth. I think Petersen learned his lesson post Moore at Boise State, where he struggled with limited QB depth / options. Still can't believe, well I guess I can, that Sark lost to that QB in the Vegas bowl. Gotta have options in the QB room, and you never know if your 5 star is Max Browne, or your 3 star is Dak Prescott. What I'm saying is it's good to have options at one of the two positions that touches the ball on virtually every offensive play. Also, probably helps a little with Redman. #whiteguymovement #okgmovement
