So he knows for sure we're in his top-6, and knows us well enough that he doesn't feel he needs to take an official? It may just be me, but, it seems rather easy to read into that.

Pretty clear he wants his money worth. Probably he is already committed but not officially since Pete told him to go take his visits first.
