John Wayne

On Wednesday’s The Ingraham Angle, the host, Laura Ingraham, and a frequent contributor on the show, Raymond Arroyo, took issue with the furor over a 1971 Playbοy interview of John Wayne that resurfaced this week because of controversial statements made by the actor.

In the interview, Wayne stated, among other things, “I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility.”

We should re-write history and purge the world of all copies of JW's movies and appearances on TV. Maybe torture his offspring?

Lots of blacks in Zimbabwe feel the same way. Actually, the big problem is socialism. Hondo is all in on having his people control me. Somehow, that just means he "cares".

I'm surprised Bob hasn't commented. Given he thinks racism ended in 1965.

I worked with a guy who loved JW. When Rock Hudson died from AIDS he was telling me that everyone knew he was gay (he might have had personal insight) and to counter his constant ragging on Hudson and gays I argued the point that JW was also gay. "Just look at him, his real name was Marion and he had a doll collection". Drove the guy nuts.

I also thought he was one of the worst actors I had ever seen. Maybe the Cowboys was the best he did...

Commies wanted him dead. But hey better dead than red! JW was a bad ass.

Stop applying today's standards to 50+ years ago. Please apply them to yourselves.

Yeah I believe I said that in the thread where you professed your love for sex with farm animals and children

No. But millions from multiple generations disagree with you. But hey you're used to it.

I stand with Sledog on this point. He could only play one part but it was one of most iconic parts of all time. That’s worth something.

One was a Spaniard, another Messican and the last from Peru. I was thinking the other day if the Duke would have been for or against the wall. I’m guessing no. He loved Old Messico and wanted to ride across the Rio Grande w/o impediments.

He couldn't make a living as an actor if he'd been born later.

Riddle me this: if De Niro had a narrow bandwidth and could only play bananas like in Tax Driver or Italian mob thugs like Goodfellas or classic mob roles like Godfather - any one of those, but just one, would you say Wayne and De Niro were equals?

Fuck off if you say "yes". Wayne was a cultural thing. I don't think even he thought he was good actor.

Of course De Niro was a way better actor. But I like my cultural icons that were manly and played for USC and respecked Messicans.

Now if you don’t have a little respeck @creepycoug the row boat paison treaty is off and it’s 7-11 for you. Kane Hall in 1989 will pale in comparison...

Real men don't need to run a poll to support their personal likes and dislikes.

I'm a grown man! I like what I like, even if I'm the only guy in the room who likes it. My balls let me get away that. Sounds like it's different for you.

Also sounds like you really don't care if I like John Wayne.

Sounds like you like shitty actors who are cultural icons who also played for USC, which, btw, still really really respects Washington!

I like good actors, irregardless of their iconic status and alma mater.

At 5'10", I may not go heels on a UW rowboat, but you don't want none of this danger at 7-11. My latino temper is legendary.

I will be pissed as hell if they take the Duke’s statue down and rename SNA. Fuck that. There’s no moral equivalence between John Wayne’s bigoted remarks in Playboy and, say, statues of Robert E Lee who was a traitor and skronfly rayciss. The moral panic in the country is re-god-damned-diculous some tims.

As I have said applying todays snowflake SJW shit to ancient times isn't a good idea.
