So uh, he’s being racist here right? He’s clearly never seen Haskins play a single game. But because he’s black he’s a runner?

Haskins is a lead footed statue that set Big 10 records for passing yards and passing TDs.

Edit: Passed for nearly 5000 yards and 50 TDs and ran for less than 200 yards.

Wasn’t watching ESPN. Heard about it on the radio, didn’t think it could be true. Googled Stephen A and found the tweet.

    Internet is an amazing thing.

The only sport shows I watch are MLB tonight on MLB Network, and Inside the NBA. I love baseball and hate the NBA, but Charles, Kenny, and Shaq are fucking hilarious.

I stopped watching baseball outside of big time pitching matchups. If I wanted to keep playing in the woodbat weekend league, I had to stop watching baseball at home. The trade off was easier than I thought.

I do watch the MLB show/channel when I travel for work, or chewing up time on the treadmill.

I like baseball highlight and history show on the MLB network from when baseball baseball. Can't watch a game anymore

When they fucked Barry Bonds and ruined the sport I was out

Chicks dig the longball. Nerds and dorks dig analytics

Analytics loves the longball and has been by far Bonds' biggest advocates.

It's the old school traditional fags that hate Bonds.

They ran him out of the game and denied his records and the game sucks now

Bob Costas and the rest of the nerds can go fuck themselves

Costas is a nerd but he doesn't know shit about analytics.

I was never a Bonds fan, but on the steroids issue, make 'em legal or not. IDRGAF which, but decide. The records are tainted if some guys are using and others are not.

Sorry. Same with McGuire and Sosa. All of those guys were using. You look at a picture of Bonds when he was at Pittsburgh and later with the Giants, and he's looks like a completely different person.

Straw, Gooden, Will Clark, Boggs....were all old school baseball partiers that would have made the Mick proud.

OT, Bonds and Van Slyke were a treat to watch in the OF for the Pirates.

Makin' love is like hitting a baseball, you just gotta relax and concentrate. Besides, I'd never sleep with a player hitting under .250, unless he had a lot of RBIs or was a great glove man up the middle.

I believe in the soul, the cockThrobber, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hangin' curveball, high fiber, good Scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, over-rated crap.

Love people that spout opinion as fact, only to get called out on it and then back off saying it's their opinion, so you can't criticize for it.

Someone tell Grandpa that they hit more dingers now than they ever have.
Started with prioritizing gorilla ball in LL and travel teams. Late 80s mid 90s.

They don't teach a 2 strike approach anymore. Especially with aluminum bats.

How would I know they hit more since I haven't watched since Barry hit #73?

Today’s analytics defy my concept of logic. Strikeouts are OK as long as you can park it 1/15 AB’s. OBP is king and RBIs and Batting average don’t mean shit.

All these things are essentially true. Parking it 1/15 of the time means you're hitting 40 home runs which is enough to justify a high strike out rate, as long as you're also getting on base at a decent clip. If all you're doing is leaving the yard 40 times with high K's and low OBP it's probably not enough (possibly depending on the position you play).

RBIs don't mean much because they're a function of team play not individual play, kind of like runs scored. There are much better ways to measure production. There is very little evidence that some hitters hit better with RISP than others. The best way to predict who will have the most RBIs is to identify the players who hit the most often with runners on base, not try and guess which hitters are more or less clutch.

Batting average doesn't mean much because there's little functional difference between a single and a walk so OBP is a much more useful tool. Obviously a single is more valuable than a walk but the difference isn't as large as you would think. One guy can hit .320 and almost never walk and have an OBP of .350. Another guy can hit .270 but walk regularly and have a .370 OPB. Assuming slugging percentages and defense are equal you want the .270 hitter more than the .320 hitter.

The most important thing in baseball is getting outs (if you're pitching/defense) or avoiding outs (when you're at bat). It's an untimed game, outs are the thing that advance the game and reduce opportunities to score. The more outs you avoid the more runs you will score.
