Appeal to emotion or argumentum ad passiones ("argument from passion") is a logical fallacy characterized by the manipulation of the recipient's emotions in order to win an argument, especially in the absence of factual evidence.[1] This kind of appeal to emotion is a type of red herring and encompasses several logical fallacies, including appeal to consequences, appeal to fear, appeal to flattery, appeal to pity, appeal to ridicule, appeal to spite, and wishful thinking.2001400ex said:Medicare for all sure sounds like we are placing shackles on people. Instead of facts, persuasive language is used to develop the foundation of an appeal to emotion-based argument. Thus, the validity of the premises that establish such an argument does not prove to be verifiable.[2]
Appeals to emotion are intended to draw inward feelings such as fear, pity, and joy from the recipient of the information with the end goal of convincing him/her that the statements being presented in the fallacious argument are true. -

I've seen this bullshit argument for socialism as it relates to fire, police, defense, roads, parks....
What you dipshits are failing to understand is the government is supposed to be like a co-op. It bands together a group of people (the citizens) who could not otherwise afford to pay for services or infrastructure individually. Then, through the elected management (the Congress), items are identified on behalf of the co-op members that provide value to the members as a whole. Not simply one member who bought a yummy candy bar in Europe last summer and demands it be a regular item in the store - but for the good of the entire membership. And if the membership doesn't like the stuff that's being put on the shelves or the prices they are forced to pay or whatever, they vote the management out.
Instead, what socialists want is for the management to tell the members what they should eat and how much they are going to pay for it and they'll like it or else.
Fuck that.
If the management gives out free handouts of yummy goodness to the bums in the back alley without the members consent, they need to GTFO.
Both the bums and the management.

The existence of public employees means you're a socialist country? Are all of you millennials so poorly educated?JaWarrenJaHooker said:Then why don’t we just get rid of police and firemen, smart guy?

The word you're looking for is indoctrinated. And the answer is YES.

But the Interstate freeways!!!!!!!!

Take the bums I referenced in my example and let them play Frogger across the interstates. If they make it back and forth six times without getting squashed, they get a free handout. Let's be competitive about homelessness. Survival of the fittest and shit.RaceBannon said:But the Interstate freeways!!!!!!!!
Gummy bears are delicious. I'm sure bums would Frogger for those.

Another victory for the Free World and capitalism. Undefeated world philosophy...even when a shitty half assed war ends with a withdrawal, countries still see the light ala Vietnam.
