I respeck beisbol, it’s hard I get that.creepycoug said:
Tragically, I am supporting this blowhard on this point. Beisbol is a real and awesome sport my freng. Hardest thing to do in all of sport is hit a round object coming at you at 80+ mph, usually moving, with a round object. Success defined as anywhere near doing it 3 out of 10 tries. Great defenders are incredible to watch.backthepack said:
Flagged for your kids being Beisbol fags. Play a real sport along with football like basketball or lacrosse!SFGbob said:My middle son blew his knee out playing football this past fall. He is a much better baseball player than he is a football player, he is now going to miss nearly an entire year and his freshman year of school baseball.
I'm thinking long and hard about letting him play anymore football. He wants to but I'm still not sure. Went through the same thing with my oldest, he was a much better football player than my middle son but like his little brother a much better baseball player. He never was badly injured playing football but he hyper-extended his throwing arm playing football his junior year. Scared him enough that he decided to quit on his own and focus solely on baseball.
Smart move, he received a D1 scholarship in baseball.
Football is a brutal game it's not about if you're going to get hurt, you will, it's about if you're going to be injured. Losing an entire year due to injury is a very high price to pay.
And it's a very smart move to get your kids to play bb over football. If there's a choice, it's a no brainer. More $$, more girls, longer career, and nowhere near the later-in-life complications.
The people who play it, the majority of them are fags. -
Don't double down on this retartery backs. It's unmanly. It's unseemly.backthepack said:

You don't talk like that about America's pastime junior. You just don't!
If you can get through Ken Burns' "Baseball" w/o shedding a few tears, come back, let me know, and I'll walk back my critique of your retarded posts. -
I’d get board of it 3 minutes in.creepycoug said:

Not bad. I would have preferred Chipper Jones, or Eddie Murray but love Kirk's lefty swing (and limp), too. Taught myself to switch hit because of Eddie as a young Em. Chip and Beltran were the smoothest.... although I never saw the Mick. Have to ask Race on that one.YellowSnow said:MisterEm said:
Strong disagree. Baseball paved a nice life for me and mine. And I limped and one-armed my way through just over 2 years of playing at UW. Beisbol attracted an eclectic group of over-confident assholes and weirdos who like to throw down. A lot like the rowboat mafia aka @YellowSnow.backthepack said:Baseball is a fag sport, hth
Most kids that didnt give up early due to boredom during LL (it still is atrocious) give up the first time a wayward 80+ mph fastball whizzes by their grape... by end of middle school or so.
Also, squaring up a moving 95+mph round object with another round object...with less than 0.15 sec to decide whether to gap it or bail out to save your life... is still the hardest feat in "sports"....unless you count auto-racing, mountain-climbing and bull-riding, sports.
Come at me, bro.
Baseball also has the dumbest and smartest guys I've ever met in any sports arena. Rainman level smart combined with Hondo level fucktardeness all on the same team.

If you like baseball, and you're good at playing it, God bless. And I get the hitting the fastball thing. It's hard, it's a process. One on one, lacrosse goalies might have it harder, because the distances are closer, the speeds higher, and the area to defend larger. But in the game, the shooter is getting the shit beat out of him in the process, so it's different.
The game of baseball is so different than football, basketball, rugby or just about anything else. Really you gotta chalk one up for the strength of tradition that baseball is still so prevalent. That shit is slow as hell compared to all the other alternatives and yet it lives on.
I had a point 10-15 minutes ago, but took a piss and can't remember what it was now. -
I'm old enough to remember that people bitched about that saying he was showboating and that was awful for the sport.YellowSnow said:MisterEm said:

Baseball definitely has the biggest collection of old people that irrationally stick to unwritten rules. Even golf has finally broken out of the old ass (hi Race!), we have to do it this way just because, stupid shit. -
I played football, basketball, and lax.
Fast, TUFF, physical, and hard

I said sports feat, not which "game" was harder. But I do get it. I played all 3 big boy sports through pee wees and high school.GrundleStiltzkin said:If you like baseball, and you're good at playing it, God bless. And I get the hitting the fastball thing. Similarity mentality to step up to the plate for the lacrosse goalie except they get to cover the money-maker, but endure endless body blows.
A sports science group attempted to measure some of these feats. Hitting a baseball and golf ball stood above the rest. They gave the nod to boring old beisbol due to the potential harm. Komo4buttfucker
Also, Lacrosse was an all whitey church school sport when I was around...but I played in the East Bay in Cali where white was a minority. Maybe its changed and swapped with baseball? -
I suck balls and hate playing on the field. So when I jammed my elbow up a bit before my junior year I used it as an excuse and faked it for the entire year and DHed.
It was awesome.
I had a dick assistant coach who always called me out but since I was a golden boy no one ever believed him.
Throbbers daughters dig the long ball. All chicks do.
Plus my Gramps played on the red Sox so he liked to come to the games. -
I'm agreeing with on the feat part in the games as played. A batter is always alone against a pitcher, while a lacrosse goal is always defended by multiple players. The hand/eye for both is amazing.MisterEm said:

Demographically, only speaking from what I see in my area, which is largely white, lacrosse is more diverse than baseball, but that's not saying much. In tournaments and such that I've been to with my kids, I'd guess it's probably 70-80% white, which probably tracks with the PNW overall. Ten years ago, I couldn't give two shits for lacrosse. But since my kids have started playing it, I've really come to love the sport. And I'd like to see more minorities giving it a shot. Myles Jones is black and was one of the best NCAA players for all four years he played. Baptiste, also black, I think is the all-time face-off winner in NCAA history.
In Washington, it will take the sport being recognized by the WIAA for it to get to the next level of participation. It's too damned expensive to play as it stands now.
I think it got brought up before, but in my area, youth baseball is hurting. I can't say where those kids are going, to other sports or (probably more likely) not playing anything at all.
