We have fought this fight as long, and as well as we know how. We have been defeated. For us as a Christian people, there is now but one course to pursue. We must accept the situation. - Robert E. Lee

Is her statement anymore outrageous than Obama and his supporters claiming they are on the right side of history and that if you have different political views from him you're on the wrong side of history?

Clarification: nobody is calling for a Wall around Pullman. Relax, Cirro Dolezal, nothing will block that beautiful Campus or surrounding Palouse hills view you have from your office.

I cringed when I saw Sanders statement because it is God is a Husky level stupid. But he is

However my glib comment is meant to illustrate that everyone is fact does it. Pelosi is always rattling on about God wanting higher taxes and shit. And she is the architect of the wall (see what I did there) being immoral.

I've heard since the 80's that Christians need to shut up and not vote for the GOP yet the democrats are completely hypocritical about it

I'm in on separation of religious talk and campaigning

Her statement is theologically incorrect anyway. God wants Sharia Law

This is a GOOD poast that I agree with. Personally, I'm still fighting the Civil War and am naturally judgmental when Southerner's like Sanders start bringing the almighty into politics. Hence why I like to quote R.E. Lee and Jeff Davis on religion.

There’s a mountain of difference between saying you’re on the right side of history and saying God hand selected Trump to be president. One can often be proven out after time the other is pure nonsense.

For example: in 20 years marijuana will be legal in all 50 states and people will look back and wonder what the fuck took so long. The people who stood in the way will have been on the wrong side of history.

In 20 years Sarah Sanders will still be viewed as a clown.

The Civil War replay is just coming on SO CAL PBS and you got me interested in watching it yet again. Talk about a one hit wonder. I just watched Burn's PBS thing on baseball from 1994. He took a can't miss subject and missed. Badly

I am just about finished watching it on Netflix. Sherman is just leaving Atlanta. Grant in my mind was the third greatest American that ever lived behind Lincoln and Washington. If he had been in charge in 1862, the war would have ended a lot quicker.

Baseball was OK I thought but no Civil War.

Not really. If you believe there is such a thing as historical determination for policy positions, there isn't, you're no different than believing that there is a unseen higher force making political choices.

There is no right or wrong side of history and history doesn't move in only one direction.

Vietnam was good, I wasn't impressed with his WWII, Boardwalk Empire was better dealing with Prohibition.

Burns has an annoying tendency to try and shoehorn too many historical events through a lens of racial politics.

Well, Bob, racial politics are kind of an important part of our nation’s history and the subjects he’s covered.

Not what I said. Is the most important story of WWII racial politics? There is much of American history where racial politics shouldn't been the dominant story.

This is how we've ended up with American history being where they are taught little if anything about Adams and Madison and Jefferson, other than he slept with his slave, and plenty about Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth. I'm not against teach about them but their importance to American history is way out of whack with how much emphasis is given to them and other minor historical figures.

The Baseball doc was a great example of how racial politics was an integral part of the story and it would have been impossible to tell the story without including that angle.

    WWII is a different animal.
