The Chinese Communist Party. Think about that. Tax the American middle class, jack up their gas prices, force them to buy EVs and use solar and wind power manufactured by the chicoms or use massive amounts of minerals mined by the chicoms leaving economic devastation behind. But, what cooling the earth you ask. Nope. Clear alternative is build nukes and expand oil and gas production and build lots of LNG export facilities and actually improve the environment and make the US the world's economic superpower and not the chicoms . Geezus.

My biggest fear on the climate shit is that the government is going to go all in on a shitty technology that clearly isn’t the answer and demonize competition to the chosen path. Which will then make private investing in something that is actually good, clean and cheap not worth the effort.

So basically like what is happening now in many areas.

That's the German playbook. Pretend that solar and wind are cheap green renewable energy that reduce CO2 emissions. Then intentionally shut down nukes, which are zero CO2 emission and then rely on Russian natural gas for their baseline. The price of energy will dictate the health of your economy. Expensive energy, sh*tty economy. We are following the German playbook and combined with open borders we have voted to become Venuzuela. Decline is a choice and we have made it. Look at current US electricity costs compared to Germany. California is at $20 a megawatt hour. Oregon and Washington are at about $9.50 a megawatt hour. Germany is running at spot prices of about $550 per megawatt hour and shutting down manufacturing to try to keep their head above water. I'm hearing very little about the absurd attack on fossil fuels from the republicans. That and open borders are clear winners but the republican leadership is muzzled.

Europe’s benchmark power price surged above 500 euros ($509) for the first time, ratcheting up pressure on households and businesses as the worst energy crisis in decades looks set to persist well into next year.

German year-ahead electricity rose as much as 11% to 530.50 euros a megawatt-hour on the European Energy Exchange AG. That marks a gain of over 500% in the past year, driven predominantly by Russia’s moves to slash gas supply.

As energy costs continue to soar, industries from glassmakers to metal producers are feeling the pinch. Nyrstar became the latest firm to announce cutbacks on Tuesday, saying it will halt output at its Budel zinc smelter in the Netherlands -- one of Europe’s biggest -- at the beginning of September.
