NATO got us into this mess, it's their job to get out of it...

But this is not your ordinary bear. Very dangerous game.
I have a bad feeling about this.
Time to stock up on the TP, meat, gas, and medicines.

Luckily we have Biden and his team of adults in charge. His kickass presser let Russia know they mean business. They're going to sanction....checks notes...people who have already been under or are already on sanctions. That's how you do it.

Problem is, we are NATO

Unfortunately the good ole' USA sings: "We! are! NA-TO!, dum de dum dum dum dum dum!"DoogieMcDoogerson said:That's my viewpoint. They've slowly added European and former soviet block countries and that is a direct threat to Russia. This is NATOs problem to own, even more specifically, this is largely European NATO members' problem to own. The US absolutely should not be sticking their neck out here. Why are we poking the bear? ( I know, to wag the dog ).

Wasn’t there a Canadian/US oil pipeline that would have solved most oil supply issues with Russia? What ever happened to that?
-
Honestly, if Canada and the US dedicated 15 years of heavy drilling and Western Europe embargoed all energy purchases from Russia and purchased solely from Canada, the US, and the Middle East, Russia would be as economically impactful as Uganda.

Watching Blinken talk. He will sound credible to the American people who watch the mainstream media, but in reality's he's part of the Biden admin and is fucking this up. Also, he looks like he's been up for 72 hrs straight.

"If and when Russia escalates, so we will we." Final words in the press conference.

Should NATO have expanded in the 90s? Maybe not. And perhaps Gorbachev and Yeltsin really were promised it would not, just as the Russians claim.
But it's 2022, Russia is run by a kleptocracy and headed by a thug. Poor mouthing NATO because some long for isolationism would be foolish. -

With that said, when diplomacy fails, should we enter the war? Hopefully the current administration has thought that far ahead because that's what's going to happen and China is sitting back watching how we respond. -

OK, so then why are we bothering with all this, then? When we back out of the fight, we are going to look even weaker to china.HHusky said:

How are we backing out? When you're dealing with an enemy that has a frail and failing economy, there are many ways to strike them that don't involve us doing the fighting.DoogieMcDoogerson said:

I'd say that remains to be seen. The key thing is if we threaten like we are and then just let them roll in, we look weak. Obviously Russia is prepared to take whatever non-military stuff we would throw at them. They're smart enough to know what that might be.HHusky said:

Ukrainian Foreign Minister now on Fox News:
?: Why should Americans care?
1) Ukraine gave up their nukes in 1994 for the betterment of world security. America committed to helping defend us. America needs to keep their commitment.
2) If Russia is allowed to invade Ukraine, this sends a message to Russia, China, and the rest of the world that the West can't defend and protect what is important to them - Democracy
Stakes seem kind of high here. But his mean tweets! -

I don't think there's anyone who's so smart that they know what comes of launching a war. I think Russia will take significant casualties and that its economy will take a significant hit. We haven't said we'll fight, so I don't think we signal weakness by not doing so.DoogieMcDoogerson said:

If Russia is making a mistake, well, you know what The Art of War says about that.
