P.J. O'Rourke has died

There are some on both sides of the "isle" who can't stand P.J. O'Rourke, I am not one of them. My guess is most probably don't even know who he is. I know, I know, he disliked Trump and backed The Bitch but for his whole life he was a fiscal Conservative (big fan of Reagan) and an absolute hater of politicians and their fucked up system.

He sat at a large dinner table with me and 10 others at a speech Clinton, Dole and several others gave way back when. The place was full of rich people under the guise of some charity support. Around our table he was hilarious and his stories legendary before and during dinner. I believe I was the only one at the table that knew he was a writer for National Lampoon the magazine, something I read religiously in my youth.

They had told us there would be a secret guest speaker that night. The speeches were all funny (Dole was the funniest man on the planet, contrary to how the press made him out to be) and after dinner we had the special guest speaker and lo and behold O'Rourke stood up and took the podium. He was hilarious. I loved him because he genuinely skewered politicians from both sides, he didn't play favorites and that I admire.

Anyway, I hate that he died so quickly he was a great writer and gave it to the politicians, wealthy society types and their fucked up behaviors.
