I fucking despise articles like this. Media, who LOVE to question coaches, suddenly turn around, put it all on fans, and ask what could possibly be wrong with us to question this practically saint-like man?!? Pot stirred up, more shit to write about created. Repeat.
Why should a honeymoon period exist in the first place? This is not a learn-on-the-job school. This is not a moribund program. UW was not suffering and needing a savior. This is one of the top jobs in the country. This was one of the most talented rosters in the country. This is a team that repeatedly got close, and seemingly only needed a little push, a small change or two, to take the next step into an elite group.
The Petersen departure put a bad taste in the mouth of most every rabid fan. It was difficult to even comprehend the idea of not being able to enjoy The Fucking Rose Bowl. But hey, here was the hand-picked, likeable successor, always smiling and positive, who would make sure UW didn't slip back into mediocrity. There was no need to right the ship, rather to simply maintain, tweak, and eventually grow into something better. But what happened from the very first day, week, month? - there did not seem to be a plan with his head-scratching hires. By the way, have any of those hires impressed thus far? Then UW played, frankly, like shit in 3 of his 4 games, all at home, while Jimmy kept smiling. Recruiting seemed to suffer, and Jimmy kept smiling.
In fairness, it isn't just Jimmy that people are questioning. It is the UW athletic department. But Football is the face of that department, and Jimmy is the face of football. And what else have people had to do with their last 20 months or so?? We're waiting to see what he's got in store for us, but a great deal of what has happened thus far has been alarming.
"Of course, these naysayers will disappear into the wind should Lake have a big season or they'll suddenly reverse themselves and gush about his decision-making propensity and his team's innate toughness and resilience."
Ewe knew hear, Raley?? I note you leave "big season" nice and vague, but really you're talking about a minority among a minority. We want Rose Bowls and Playoffs. Anything else and our? coach can fuck off. cheers--
I hope Jimmy coordinated with Raley to push this puff piece out there. That would indicate some level of giving a shit.
But given the rest of the content I've seen come out of the clowns who license the corpse of Sports Illustrated's name, I'm guessing Raley is doing this all on his own accord.
Too funny, the best part is taking shots at fans that have never gotten off the couch when Raley has consistently demonstrated that he doesn't really know much about football...
"The message here is not that you can't or shouldn't criticize the UW leader. We media types regularly do it all the time with the various Seattle sporting authorities. At least let this coaching racehorse get out of the chute first."
THE HELL YOU DO DAN. Who are you trying to fool? You always have your head rammed straight up Jimmy Lake's ass.

We’re the real die hards you fucking pandering doog. Your take is Willingham era copy-paste. Smells like twat.
If this column is any indication of his other efforts, he’s a lazy writer.
He’s obviously going after the #1 Husky fan site but why? Is it simply to try and get noticed?
Come on Dan.
