    Kemp > Payton

A world once existed until Kemp ate himself out of the league

    Kemp > Payton

Peak? Probably. GP's career was easily better, and his peak was real close.

At the end of the 96 Finals Kemp was considered the second best player in the world and got some MVP consideration

And then it went to shit for Seattle and Kemp

    Story of our? lives

Peak-Kemp is my favorite NBA player of all time. His years as a Sonic were great.

He wasn’t ever 2nd best. Karl Malone was always quite a bit better. Shaq is a no brainer too.

Malone held Kemp to 69% shooting.

Kemp held Malone to 47.5% shooting.

Raw stats Malone has the edge but Kemp's defense affect Malone's far more than the other way around. Malone was also a disaster from the FT line that series.

I won't say Kemp dominated but he had the better series.

Biggest issue was Kemp spent much of the series in foul trouble whereas Malone did not.

NBA spent years trying to get Malone and Stockton to the Finals. Same with the infamous Game 7 in Phoenix where the Suns shot about 850 free throws.

That video is back when power forwards were men, not these pussies that hang around the 3-point line today.

Paging @sonics1993 for some stories of his years playing alongside the Reign Man.

Imagine Kemp playing small ball 5 with four shooters around him. Omg.

They weren’t far from it with Perkins, Det, Hawk and GP. They had the roster for sure.

But like most if the league still wasted a spot on the floor for another big

    And then went after McElvaine

Hakeem Olajuwon is a forgotten man.
He probably was still better than Kemp in 96, but he was in decline. Same for Barkley and Ewing. They were pretty equal but Kemp was rising and they were in decline. Alonzo Mourning was right there as well.

Kemp was good but Sonics fans have always overrated him.

IMO Hakeem Olajuwon is the greatest center I've ever seen play. Never got to see Kareem.

Olajuwon could block shots, run the floor, rebound, make free throws, plus passer, and could hit the mid-range jumper. The only thing he was missing was a three point shot

Lew Alcindor was legit. The shit.

Showtime Kareem could still do it -but UCLA Lew and Milwaukee/first few years in LA Kareem....unstoppable.

Alonzo Mourning. Fuckin' A, man. His offensive "repertoire" was painfult to watch. A small notch above Dikembe.

He averaged 23 and 11 in 95-96 and was either the best or 2nd best big man defender. Better numbers in every category than Kemp ever had and one of the better shot blockers of all time.

He was on a worse team which is why I said he was close to as good. He’s right there and you’re a doog if you truly think Kemp was anything more than his equal at best.

Yeah, he sucked on offense after being hurt and having cancer or whatever the fuck was wrong with him.
