“That’s why we fighting for this s–t now! This is how we get treated in 2020!
“This what we march for! This is why we say Black Lives Matter! Look at how y’all treat us! In front of people!”
Yeah, you were mistakenly identified as a thief. You were handcuffed and detained briefly and then you were released. The police officer and then the Chief of Police apologized to you. Ain't it awful what happens in this country to black people!!!!
I was arrested in Denver under suspicion of DWI in the late 1980s. (and the police didn't even have a warrant!!!!) On that particular night, I had nothing to drink. (The most shocking part of this story.) After giving me the field sobriety test, which I passed, they said that I had to come downtown to take a breathalyzer. Passed that too. Cops then told me that while I wasn't drunk they still believed that I was impaired and that I must be on drugs. I wasn't on drugs and there were no drugs or drug paraphernalia found in my car. They kept me overnight in the drunk tank and still cited me for driving while impaired. I actually had to fly back to Denver from LA on my own dime, back when I didn't have too many dimes, in order to appear in court where after listening to my sob story the judge dismissed the case. White Privilege!!!!
I never got any apology from the cop nor did the chief of police ever issue me a public apology. That's how whitey was treated back in 1988.
