That's my problem with hard core libertarians and Yang. They can articulate a theoretical position and then adopt it with religious fervor ignoring the actual reality on the ground. Yang "feels" that his UBI proposal will end welfare. It won't and as you say it will be additional. Milton Friedman supported the earned income tax credit assuming it would be enforced by the federal government and act as an encouragement to get off welfare and work. The reality is that Friedman ignored the underground cash economy and the federal governments intentional enabling of massive EITC fraud. EITC is just another welfare program that contributes to the massive welfare magnet that the US has become to the world's ill educated poor.

Oregon just adopted a psuedo sales tax on gross receipts at the "low" rate of 0.56%. You think that is going to be the rate in 5 years? Leftards lie and love to be lied to.

Those two don't belong together. Yang has a few libertarian-ish positions, and a whole bunch of decidedly not libertarian ones.

Well, Thomas - Yang is getting no traction on his proposals from the dem base. He is pro nuke. That's one dem non-starter. I have no idea why an educated black is a dem. Perhaps you can explain it to me. Phu*ck, you can't even explain why you are a dem.

He’s now in 4th place. Going up against 3 candidates with decades of name recognition. Maybe this is where it ends for him, but he keeps trending up.

I’m pro nuke. Not sure that’s the non-starter you insist it is. But then, I’m not a Dem.

He seems to appeal to independents, libertarians, working class and young voters. Traditional Dems will fall in line to defeat Trump. If he gets the nomination I guarantee he will win thanks to his broad appeal. But the DNC is probably gonna force Biden.
    Not sure about that.

I like Yang for, dare I say, his comportment significantly more than his policies.
UBI is actually popular in lots of libertarian circles as an alternative to the federal welfare bureaucracy.
Yang’s UBI plan is opt in, but doing so requires you to forfeit other programs (welfare). It’s also easier to administer since there no army or bureaucrats needed to test and verify eligibility requirements repeatedly.

Small government libertarians should LOVE UBI compared to our current set up.

It’s also just better. Let people decide for themselves what the money should be spent on to improve their lives.
I agree with that part. But Yang won't write the law. It'll be an add-on.
I don’t think so. That’s part of how it will be funded. If people are better off on disabilities or whatever they don’t get UBI too.

More power to him. He will face heavy opposition from his own party to pass UBI in that way.

This might be my favorite of his positions - https://www.yang2020.com/policies/automatically-sunsetting-old-laws/

Yeah, sunsetting of old laws is another strong dem position. They will be all over that.

IF there's a corresponding reduction in bureaucrats, The Throbber is IN.

But if this is just add-on/new department/no RIF of gubmint teet sucking bureaucrats, hard pass.

That said, Jake Browning still sucks.

100% agree. I like UBI as a more efficient model for social safety net programs. I don’t like it as an add on to the current system

See, even the Throbber can get out on the end of the bell curve every once in a while reasonably.

You want to swing by the Guns and Religion Compound later for some shooting and bible verses?

I'm not surprised he is moving up

I predicted it before pup did

He separated himself with the no tie and UBI and by not being deranged about Trump

The Wall separated Trump in 2016

You gotta have a hook and Yang does

It would be a better general election than Biden could put up

I have also been in favor of writing checks to people in need rather than the bullshit we have now

But he would need to convince me he won't crash the economy like the rest of the ass clowns running on higher taxes and fucking up energy

UBI as a replacement is something I could get behind.
Take all the excuses off the board, produce or die.

1000.00 dollars won't replace the up to 65K a year in, some places, that one can obtain via all the social "safety nets".
