Why assume you're better than 4th just because of Hebert (who hasn't done much) and recruiting that doesn't affect this coming season?
Just stating facts here.
Not sure if that was meant to respond, but ...
does anyone really assume anything in cfb? I think it's more of a hope thing all around.
There are reasons for optimism and reasons for concern. Oregon isn't Alabama. Neither is Washington.
I've never understood this expectation that the Ducks sit around and groan about how shitty they are and hopelessly concede. What do you want them do? After an entire season of saying Cristo can't really recruit because, Alabama, he pulls Oregon's best ever class on paper. After saying he can't coach, the team came out of a shit show of coaching changes and improved from a complete shit show season and in the process beat the conference champs and were in every game but one. They get their senior QB back who everyone said they'd be fucked without.
Why wouldn't there be some reaonable amount of optimism? I don't get what you want them to do.
They're supposed to pack it in because you turn loose some retarded Tacoma guy who can't count to 20 and who changes his argument every 5 minutes as people shut his ass down?
Forget the lowly Dicks and worry about Pete and the month of January.

I mean it’s funny to talk shit to them but if we take care of bidness on the recruiting trail first and foremost everyone is fucked. Pete has the track record of elite talent development. Cristobol as a HC? Not so much.

Reason why Husky fans care about Oregon:
1. They’ve (we?) have won 13/15. Think about that for a second.
2. It’s your biggest rival. Who doesn’t care about their biggest rival? Pussies, my man. You want your enemy to be awful, anything less is shit for expectations.
3. Crystal balls won 9 games in his first year. How many PAC coaches have done that in their first year? Yeah it doesn’t mean shit, but he did that with a DC who stopped DCing, a roster that had 73 scholarship players, and a lot of Helf guys. Some Helf guys were home runs, but not sustainable roster management.
4. He just signed the best, or at least highest ranked, recruiting class in the conference and is about to do that again. And you know it’s as much about Trykewheezys and Kayvons as it as about Xs and Os.
5. $$$. A quarter billion over the last six years spent on capital projects specific to football WITHOUT touching the stadium. Phil will make an investment if he thinks it’s has ROI penitential, and money rules everything. When you’re old enough to rent a car you’ll understand.
6. Because this is the best rivalry on the West Coast. Two fan bases that have enough people that care, no other PAC-12 teams can say that. It’s special. We save dog turds.
7. Radically different approaches. Old school former Oregon assistant, versed in the Koetter/Porn Stache/Hawkins school of thought VS a new school recruiting is everything I’ve seen Nick Saban at the urinal type of deal.
