Redman wasn't the only Husky that got one over on a future Duck. Left tackle Roger Rosengarten took defensive lineman Maceal Afaese down and pushed him to the ground as Afaese was trying to get around the corner during 1-1's.
like the dude ... but he definitely needs way more junk in the trunk.
But way better to add size/weight when you already have the compete, aggression and skill ... rather than the other way around.
The majority of OL who develop into high NFL draft picks are skinnier, more athletic guys who redshirt and fill out in their early college seasons. McGary and Andre Dillard are great examples of that

If he was soft I would be somewhat worried. He’s not. I love how aggressive he is. Just bulk him up and he’s going to be really fucking good.
OL class was major this year. First time we have had 3 or 4 top level guys that won’t be out of place as a junior vs the blue bloods.
Huff has to get them dialed in and knowing who to block. That’s half the battle and we seem so fucking bad against the blitz and routinely fuck this up.

That has been the failure to date. The whole starting five plus a couple of key reserves win the overwhelming majority of their matchups. They just dont seem to match up with anyone at all on way too many snaps.

I believe it was Millen who all year tailed on the blocking concepts. He said they were all 20-30 years old and didn’t make sense with today’s football and schemes.
He wasn’t sure if that’s Huff or if it was the weird fucked up offense that Pete ran. I’d think it was the latter since the offense also had 47 formation shifts and motions to confuse defenses. Wouldn’t surprise me if some weird blocking schemes were a part of that. Simplify the playbook and simplify the blocking scheme.

Pretty sure it's been reported they use a bizarre pass pro system wherein tackles block down and guards are responsible for the edge rushers.

Yup. That’s what Millen discussed.
FWIW, during his interview with Softy when Lake was talking about the NFL style offense he was wanting to run, he mentioned running NFL blocking schemes. So it points to Pete’s retarded offense of trying to outsmart being the reason the blocking scheme sucked and not just because Huff taught it.

An offensive line coach is there for technique based on the system and packages installed by the OC. Huff is not the problem. You can't block 6 with 5 especially if the opposing d sends a 7th --a delayed lb dog --with a 5-step drop from your QB.

Its not that bizarre or uncommon in the NFL. Its just another tool in the box thats a bit more complex for OL to learn.
Against a 3 (odd) front defense the Center and two tackles block down to take the defensive front, The guards do what is called an "in/out read" where they read the Mike and/or buck and will pop outside to take the Will and/or Sam if the middle backers drop into a zone.
The Back is on a hot read for a swing if the Will or Sam is blitzing.

Partially true. I don’t know if it was scheme, QB error, or OL fuck ups. Abundance really. I know defenses disguise things, but hot routes are how to beat the blitz. All I really know is that we have been awful against the blitz for years.
I don’t know enough about our scheme to really know what was the main problem, but I do know we suck and rarely make the opponent pay for being extra guys.
Eason was bad even when extra guys weren’t coming. He had no feel in the pocket and I remember times he either stepped into pressure or felt it when it wasn’t there. It’s mostly a natural feel some QB’s have and some don’t. After accuracy and decision making it’s the most important aspect of playing QB. The great ones all know how to slide around. Tom Brady runs like a 5.8 40, but he’s amazing at making little adjustments to give him time to throw.
Rosengarten is 100% going to UW. Blue-collar, hard working, physical kid from Colorado. Not a flashy guy. UW aligns with his identity and he also want to major in Business. Give him and his parents the Built for Life presentation as well as information about the Foster school of Business and it'll be a wrap. There's a reason UW got the last visit and we've never lost a recruiting battle to Oregon when we get the last visit. Don't know or care what the crystal ballers have heard. He's obviously going to UW. Will be a huge commitment that could motivate Hatchett to join him soon after and that would easily be the best OT class out West.
I kind of agree with you. I'm not sold we're gonna push super hard for him which is why he may go to Oregon but if we want him I think we can win this one.
No hedging needed. We want him bad. He's one of the top-3 OT prospects out West. They'll push hard for him, therefore there's 0% chance he's going to Oregon.
Are you being serious?? He has a 5% to end up in Seattle. You define "homerness"

more importantly how DF is that logo on our official paperwork?
Also he had arguably the strongest performance of any of our position coaches save perhaps Adams.
