UW is trying to appeal to the younger crowd, not the older crowd.
They know the older crowd will continue to buy season tickets, even with all these lights and noises.
UW wants money from the kids, and they think the only way to do this is to have random prizes and shitty music.

This. Just another example of our athletic department being ran by accountants rather than fans. I get it... we have to pay the bills and money is good but some of this promotional shit that is probably generating $5-10K a year... is that sort of stuff really moving the needle for the athletic department? Is an extra $100K really making or breaking our ability to run a competent organization?whuggy said:
Too many stupid promotional events during timeouts. Be creative or bag them.
Getting more real Husky fans in the stadium creates a better atmosphere which makes the team better which in turn drives ticket sales which generates income.... it's a feedback loop that starts with attracting real football fans who care about the product on the field and not about having a smokey merlot in the zone.
Not all things that can be measured are important and not all things that are important can be measured. Bring the soul back to Husky football and good things will happen for our program/athletic department. the AD's finances might take a slight dip in the short term but, in the long term, it's clear that it's what going to create sustainable growth in the program.
You'd have to think Jen and Pete have a long enough leash that they can sell this vision to boosters and University faculty...

The stadium and gameday experience is never changing. At any school.
Schedule aggressively to make it worth it. -
Jen, please bring back King Beers with the saran wrap lid, Bill the Beer Man, and Rick the peanut guy.
Thank you -
I just want fucking noise. Bring it you fucking pussies, old or young, bring the fucking noise or go the fuck home. Make being loud at games the standard again.

I stopped going to games after being told for the 80th time to sit down during key 3rd downs. It's no fun to have the people around you get pissed for being an enthusiastic fan.backthepack said:Make being loud at games the standard again.

You misspelled "lower the fucking ticket prices"DerekJohnson said:I hear that you're frustrated with home attendance. Here's an idea for you to try without making wholesale changes until you see that it works (and it will).
Next season have a "Turn Back the Clock" game at Husky Stadium. Don't have any piped in techno or rap music in the stadium. Let the marching band provide 100% of the music on the day. Don't have flashing lights pulsating throughout the stadium. Have the players wear throwback uniforms. Do little things to generate a college football environment instead of the NFL/WWF type of product you have now. You know exactly what I'm talking about because you experienced it too. Bring the soul back to Husky Stadium.

We had an intern at my company that is currently going to UW and I asked him what he thought about the gameday experience and what could be done to improve things and he said the AD tries too hard. College kids want the 12:30 kickoffs back (late enough to sleep in, yet the game is done early enough to go out and party on a Saturday), and really good internet access for their smartphones. That’s it. Not rocket science.
I say this because the AD, by chasing after the young ones with things they *think* they want but don’t, has needlessly antagonized the rest of the fan base. I don’t see any harm in trying the throwback night (I went to a Mariners game years ago and they did something similar ー it was a big success). -
Think she needs to start with finding a way to get everybody in their fucking seats before the start of the 2nd quarter. Christ, apparently we? have to bribe the students to stay until the 3rd quarter with Echos and gift cards now. The fans make the atmosphere, and most of em, including Lee and Li, just don't give a fuck.
I'm also too young to remember a football stadium without loud music and all that mumbo jumbo that offends the sensibilities of fat, old honkies. Nonetheless, I do agree there is a certain faggoty ambivalence about the gameday presentation at UW. Anybody who thinks a cunty Drake song or Miley fucking Cyrus is good music to get psyched up for sports is fucking retarded.
A game against a top 25 team (even if they're Mormon dreck) should have more electricity, and that electricity should be coming from the fans, not the speakers. -
You sound old.
