The standard AD playbook is put the pressure on the head coach to fire assistant(s). Turns down the heat following the end of a particular season. Someone's head gets chopped off to take the heat off the head coach.

In turn that takes the heat off the AD so she can pitch 'see....we are making changes to get better...now, write a bigger check" to the boosters for another year.
