I don't know all of it. The school used to be in the Newport Hills area, and they didn't have their own field. EC might have played in the Metro in the opposite division from O'Dea, or in whatever league Hazen and those crappy teams were in. Anyhow, they'd have a decent regular season most years preying on bad competition and then get the shit kicked out of them in first round of playoffs, like clockwork. Ten or 15 years ago, the school relocated to the Sammammish area, and after that is when they started to get serious with recruiting and whatnot. They've been cherrypicking boys and girls lacrosse players for longer than football too.
Gesser was their coach for a season or two before he took the assgrab-n-radiogab job at Wazzu. Theilbar may have taken over from Gesser. Wellington's group was part of the ascension from good to great.

In the last 18 months, they've lost head football and head boys lacrosse (lax is a big deal there) coaches, and I think another one or two. Lacrosse absolutely went in the toilet this last spring. Again, I think there's enough momentum there with football to carry through. But if things start sliding, a half-mile left you're at Skyline, half-mile right you're at Eastlake, both highly viable football options.
