He's a 6"7 SG who's dad is like 6"10 hell he might be 6"9 by the time he graduates.

If Bill Elleby is one of his dads, he isn't 6'10. His dad is tall, but not even close to 6'10. Bill Elleby played for Garfield, was all state 2 guard, played at Cal at a time when UW routinely let local talent go elsewhere.
True. But the 80's wasn't exactly hoops nirvana in WA. The true rise of legitimate local talent in volume started in the mid 90's.
Peter Dukes (Stanford), Bill Elleby (Cal), Donny Marshall (Connecticut), Doug Christie (Pepperdine), Will Brantley (Oregon State), Ryan Drew (Cal): All started at programs better than UW. Go a little later before the mid 90's you have guys like Michael Dickerson (Arizona), omm'A Givens (UCLA). UW has missed on a lot of local talent. There is a reason that the there has been such an emphasis with Bender, Romar, and now Hopkins to keep kids home. Ultimately the UW will still lose talent because you just can't sign everyone. 2005 was a great example when you had Martell Webster, Marcus Williams, Micah Downs, Jon Brockman, Artem Wallace, Terrence Williams, and Garrison Carr. Granted Carr was a small D1 guy who had a great career at American, but when you can basically flip a coin on Martell, Marcus, Terrence and Micah. Still wish they had gotten Marcus instead of focusing on Martell. Marcus on that 06 team would have been excellent.
That's not exactly a dream team of talent. A bunch of role players, depth guys. Dukes averaged 7ppg, Elleby 8ppg, Brantley 10ppg, Drew 9ppg. None of them got to the NBA. I'll give you Marshall and Christy, but that's 2 guys. When compared to the players post mid 90's - Jason Terry, Aaron Brooks, Martell Webster, Luke Ridnour, Rodney Stuckey, Jamal Crawford, Avery Bradley, Terrence Williams, (left) Nate Robinson, Brandon Roy, Isiah Thomas (stayed) are all local guys that played multiple years in the league. And there are plenty more that were impact players at the college level. The likes of Dukes, Brantley, Drew, etc. don't stack up, they just weren't difference makers.

You don't say! Not a dream team but neither were the UW teams at that time. Wasn't Eldridge basically the only UW guy to go to the league at that time? Did Dion Brown (whom I loved and is currently working to get his senior kid out of shadle park noticed) ever make it in the league?

Mark Pope and Richard Manning both played in the league for somewhat extended periods as well.

I think to some degree we're on the same page but we're talking past each other a bit.

My basic point is that during that period there weren't the same kind of game changers that started to be much more prevalent later. The Russo and Nance years were more or less a total drekfest, but letting loads of talent leave the state wasn't really the problem. Sure some of the guys you mentioned would have helped somewhat, but they weren't enough to get a team in the tourney.
