It's not socialism if a business chooses to pay its employees more.puppylove_sugarsteel said:Just a year ago, our president with Blue-lips praised THE GAP, on newscasts everywhere, for raising their minimum wage to $10/hr. A year later the gap just shut 175 stores (1/4 of its stores) and cut 250 headquarter gigs. Socialism takes down another
Sorry your favorite store is going under though. Good luck finding another poor people place to buy shit made by child slave labor. -

Are you starting to see the problem tommy as it relates to business? The market sets wages, not the socialist ignoramus' on the gap bored. See how your beliefs in $15 /hr could really hurt business tommy? Now you got free pub and a free introductory lesson in economics. Luck you

Jake from State Farm can only buy so many khakis.
RIP, Gap. Maybe if you hadn't jumped on the grow-grow-grow share price merry go round, you'd have built out at a sustainable pace.
Same shit happened to Best Buy. -
I didn't realize The Gap had 175 stores in Seattle.puppylove_sugarsteel said:Are you starting to see the problem tommy as it relates to business? Uh pretty clear here Tom. Glad you had to come and beg for clarification. See tommy, I realize Blue libubs didnt physically set the gaps wages. What he did do is show his true socialist values by praising the gap for raising their minimum wage to , roughly, the same rate as he and his party would like to see. Following?
What this shows, or per MY FUCKING ANALOGY you didnt follow DIPSHIT, is just 'blanket wage increases, set outside Market forces, is potentially business suicide. Case-in-point. Its happening in Seattle, its relevant... starting to see squeak?
I know FreeTom that a virginity is hard to buy back. I know it was too soon, the anus isnt quite prepared for that kind of a beatin, and it prolly still hurts to sit down. We still love ya here though ThomasAmongus with a sore bungus. We're a community here. -
Please show causality between higher wages and the Gap stores closing. Otherwise you are just another conservative blowhard like Rush.puppylove_sugarsteel said:Uh pretty clear here Tom. You cant see the relationship greenriver? Retail sales have been consistent and shitty. What causation are you implying?
-
Do you think that bad business decisions, overbuilding, more competition, and terrible products have anything to do with it? Or do you think everything that goes bad is because of liberals and everything that goes well is because of conservatives?puppylove_sugarsteel said:You cant see the relationship greenriver? Really this is free market (i.e. conservative) principles at its best. Survival of the fittest. -
If your business can't afford to pay its employees a living wage then you have a shitty business model and deserve to go out of business.
Any fucktard could pay his employees nothing and turn a profit. I don't know why people are so supportive of these business that can only survive by screwing their employees. Run your business better. -
Exactly. Every smart business owner knows that paying a little higher wages (in most businesses) attracts higher talent and less turnover. Which means what? Lower cost of training and better customer service. But keep paying people minimum wage and see how that works out for you.allpurpleallgold said:If your business can't afford to pay its employees a living wage then you have a shitty business model and deserve to go out of business.

BTW, not one person in my small business makes minimum wage after the first 3 months and the vast majority make $15 plus an hour to start. You invest in us with time and we invest in you in raises. -
I'm sure it's because of the minimum wage and not because they're top heavy with middle management fucktards who bring no value to the company. I bet closing these stores will fix everything.
Or it won't fix anything because the middle management fucktards are still there sucking upper management's dicks. -
The problem with The GAP is the same with a lot the other lower level retailers like JC Pennies, Sears, American Eagle, Hollister, etc. They no longer have an identity. They sell crap products at too high of prices. Retail stores like Walmart and old navy also sell junk, but price it as such, thus they control the market.
Stores like tommy Bahamas and banana republic sell quality and price as such, and with fewer competition, they can thrive.
Same is going with the way of grocery stores. Albertsons, Fred Meyer, and Safeway are getting killed by Costco, WINCO, and Walmart, while stores like Whole Foods and Market of Choice thrive. -
I guess a bathhouse is a small business.2001400ex said:

Less than 3% of workers make minimum wage. Another non issue. If you're over 18 making minimum wage you should apply at Hondo's "company "

So it's also a non-issue when it comes to companies closing stores as well....................RaceBannon said:Less than 3% of workers make minimum wage. Another non issue. If you're over 18 making minimum wage you should apply at Hondo's "company "

Apparently, it's a meaningless card both sides like to play.
"Look at my meaningless card." "No, look at MY meaningless card."
Uhhhh. OK. -
