Rivals four-star linebacker Camilo Eifler entered this weekend's Opening regional in Oakland hoping with a chip on his shoulder, as his good friend, five-star linebacker Caleb Kelly, came in with all of the hype.

Despite more than a dozen offers, including scholarships from Michigan, Oregon, UCLA and Washington, Eifler came into the weekend feeling overlooked.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound outside linebacker, out of Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, California), changed that by earning the camp's linebacker MVP honors, elevating his stock and making the statement that he, too, is among the premier defensive players on the West Coast.

In the Nike SPARQ test portion of the camp, Eifler posted a 4.73 40-yard dash, 42.8-inch vertical leap and came out with a peak power score that reached the 99th percentile, helping him secure the highest score of any prospect at the event (116.85).

Simply put, he's not being overlooked by anyone anymore.

"I think the (MVP award) is going to take it to the next level," he explained. "I'm coming in with a little chip on my shoulder. One of my best friends is Caleb Kelly, so I thought, 'Why not show the media that he's not the only outside linebacker in California that's up there?' "
Eifler said he wasn't yet ready to elaborate because he wanted the opportunity to call programs and let them know that they wouldn't make the cut, but did indicate Oregon and Washington are two teams that will remain in the fold.

"Most definitely the University of Washington, I'll say that. Just because of the strong relationships with coaches and the team there," he explained. "Oregon is in there, just because I feel comfortable with them and it's a top program. You can't let that slip by you."

Nice thing is that we (yeah, I'm part of the team!!1!!@!!!) can be very selective on LBs after taking so many last year (thanks to Sarky recruiting some duds there). Seems like our Coach K and Bob Gregory went mostly for spread killer LBs in the 2015 class (BBK at 196 lbs, Manu at 195, Beavers at 205) so they've mostly offered guys this year who are 210 and above (and more likely to redshirt after they replenished depth in 2015):

Napolean Kaufman is his HS's coach.

Both parents are professors at Cal.

Huffman also says he predicts UW. It will be nice when Petersen is fired and we have a recruiter like Sark who actually attracts elite talent from California.

On a related note, TBS writers have coined and started using the phrase "getting open" to refer to a player being invited to The Opening TBS camp/ male review/ auction. For example: "Camilo Eifler Got Open This Weekend" or "Eifler discusses his college choices after getting open".

At the moment I can't think of anything I hate more in the world than that.

    That is f***ing horrible.

Now that you're here though, when does Eifler announce?

He seems very high on UW, scout did an interview with him that was free over the weekend and I think we got a great chance for sure.

As far as his tweet saying "Dub Nation", that is actually about the Golden State Warriors. For some reason they are "Dub Nation"

    Yeah, but still.
