The play calling today was fucking terrible

And has been all season long, IMO

Too many first down throws, too many screens, not enough QB runs/option looks.

Put fucking Miles and Lindquist in at the same time and run some crazy shit, I really don't care.

Nothing says great play calling like 2nd and 9.

I think we all learned miles isn't much of a pocket passer....he was totally lost in the 4th....he needs to huddle up...the no huddle isn't his speed...

Bubble screen can be a real bitch. ;)

Can't throw short, can't throw deep, can't run outside, can't run inside. I get it though, smith is supposed to work some sort of magic

We really need to have more designed runs with Miles. I have no fucking idea why they didn't call many of those to keep the defense off balance. If Miles gets hurt but some other 4 star in

2nd half had too many incomplete passes on first down, one yard gain on second down and then hoping Miley converts a 3rd and 9. Although when we ran on both first and 2nd down it was still 3rd and 7. Way too many 3rd and longs though, which is exactly what this offense can't let happen.

You hit them hard and you run.

You hit them hard and you run.

You hit them hard and you run.

Even if you go 3 and out, you start to wear down the other team.

It's not 19tickety2 anymore. 3 yards and a cloud of dust doesn't work. If you think you're going to wear out these guys, that play no huddle teams all year long with 3 and outs, you are mistaken.

That's why Washington looks good on defense against Stanford and have a win against Shaw. And why we thought UW should win today despite being outmanned

I think his point was that you need to run the ball more. Less incomplete on 1st and 10. Everyone and their two dads knew that UW was going to run on 2nd and 10. Get 3 yards on 1st, 3 yards on 2nd, and you're looking at a lot more manageable of a 3rd down than 3rd and fucking 9.

Who said it had to be 19tickety2 style running?

Teams that can establish a run, win. Furd put up around 200 yard on the ground against us today.

Furd has a relatively slow, lunch pail QB and they were doing a bunch of designed QB runs

why the FUCK is Miles not taking off 10-15 times a game? Shit is reminding me of 2010, when Sark put an explosive devise in Locker's pads to force him to be a pure pocket passer.

So in the scenario you prefer we magically get 3 yards a carry but in the one you don't like it's magically 3rd and 9.

I agree with RoadDawg that we probably threw to much on 1st down. But here's the thing you dopes don't realize. If you run on first and second down every time the other team will realize it and play to it. Those 3 yard gains are going to turn into 0 yard gains if you're predictable.

If you have a great offensive line you can run as much as you want. When don't you can't be predictable.

I'd take Standford's style of play, over the UW's over the last 10 years.

Obviously you would mix up the formations, and wouldn't run on 1st and 2nd every fucking time, dingus.

UW seemed to abandon the run early in the game, and the plays they called were really vanilla

Running gets easier the more you do it, because it wears out the other team and your runners find the stride and tempo that works on that team.

You can still pass to avoid being predictable, but passing as much as we did on 1st down is fucking stupid with this QB.

Didn't realize winning Rose Bowls, Pac 10 championships, and BCS bowls was a low bar.
