Discussed defense, Kikaha, Miles, Peters suspension, LP3 being fucking idiots, James rants about Gods play being their football viagra, Illinois, Feeney, secondary play, running backs. 40 minutes.
Just some thoughts on Kikaha at Buck. There has been a lot of chatter about our lack of pass rush was due to him being in coverage too much.
Here is a breakdown:
6 tackles (4 s & 2 a) 1 sack 1 TFL 1 pass breakup on Baker =D>
72 snaps 56 rushing the QB or run 14 out in zone coverage 2 lined up against slot WR/TE but played run support
He actually rushed a lot in the first half from the edge and was getting owned by Rodgers. Any time he got his hand on Hau'oli it was over. On the first big TD they actually rolled right at him and Rodgers had him tied up with some support from the RB.
In the 2nd half they started lining him up inside and mixed up some stunts which seemed to be pretty effective. He had two sacks nullified by offsides (one by him and the other from Feeney). Unfortunately his only true sack came on a missed pickup by their RB.
I have no problem with the amount of times they used him in zone coverage. Actually it was somewhat effective they rarely completed anything to his side. The main problem I have is they never disguised it. If we was off the line next to the slot, the QB had to know it was zone coverage. When he was in more of a traditional DE position, you knew he was rushing the QB. I think he could be very effective in that spot if they just tried to mix it up a bit and not play their hand before the snap.
