China retaliates

He says this as though quality hasn't been a massive problem since moving supply chains to China.

In the case of luxury brands (really any product made in China from cell phones to golf balls) it's the IP theft. Run a batch of Dior bags during the day and then some at night outside of the production schedule and then sell them on the internet or to unscrupulous retailers. Ebay and even Amazon have a ton of ripped off copycat products being sold. Even US movies being shown in China are subject to self-reporting of movie revenue to share with Hollywood and just ask the dazzler with his mythical MBA how reliable self-reporting is in the real world. Buying Chinese stocks based on "reported" earnings per share, cash flow and balance sheet equity and debt is like buying Enron stock based on "audited" financial statements.

Kate Spade has a line that can be bought at Target now. This hurts the European brands more than USA’s.

You can get a Rolex knockoff that looks the exact same, and made from the same materials, for a fraction of the cost.
I’m not a watch guy, but this is happening.

My dad bought my brother in law one as a joke.
I doubt any of his drunk quook friends have ever once questioned that it wasn't a real Rolex.

Bought my wife a Rolex it's the most unreliable watch ever!

Wife bought me a Tag back in 2001. Still have it; rarely wear it.

Does your wife hate you? Tag makes more interesting models now, but in 2021 they were not getting very good reviews.

2001 is when I received it.
